Budget Autovermietung Wien Flughafen - Schwechat

I recently rented a car for a day via Budget/Avis at the Vienna International Airport in Austria. The price for rental a day was only $95 in US Dollars with 100 Euro deposit. I picked up the car at around 11:00 a.m. and returned the car the following day at 4:00 a.m as I had a red eye flight out at 6:00 a.m. My first complaint is, the customer service was very bad. The man that was attending us behind the counter when we picked up the car was not very nice and failed to explain in details with us on how to return the car. The second complaint is, because the Budget employee failed to tell us where to drop off the car, it took us a long time to figure out where to drop the car off. Apparently it was not in the same parking garage where we had picked the car up, but at a field across the street. The third complaint is, the drop off field was very dark with very minimum number of street lights. At 4:00 a.m, we could barely see anything. It even took us awhile to find the stairs that lead back to the airport. The final and major complaint is, I was initially charged 187.79 Euro for the car rental and deposit. I waited for days after returning the car and never received the deposit back. Instead, I was charged with $957 by Avis/Budget. This is appalling because I did not get into any accident nor did I hit anything when I rented the car. In fact, when I returned the car, it was in the same condition as when I took it. I tried to call the rental office for 2 days but I could not get through at all as no one was answering the phone. I tried to file a complaint via the AVIS/Budget website and received an error link (conveniently). More than anything, I never received any email or call by AVIS nor Budget with regards to why I never got my deposit back and why I was charged $957. I personally believe this is one shady way of doing business by taking customers' money without their knowledge, especially when the customer is not even aware why those charges were made.

NOT recommended - Terrible service and very, low variety of cars. We had to wait more than 2 hours to get the reservation that we had already done 10 days before!

I had very good experience with this car rental last week. Got the car in 15min, they upgraded it to brand new Mercedes E class. Returned with full tank, and got refund immediately. Overall, the service was very good, was not expecting much after so many bad reviews!

I was scared to see the negative reviews regarding them charging over existing scratches. We rented for a day and drove to the wachau valley. When we returned, the inspection was swift and we didn't encounter any problem. The guy at the desk was helpful even though his English wasn't the best.

Do not recommend budged at all!!!! Do not recommend Avis/budged at all!!!! I collected a car from vienna airport which supposed to be mercedes class A and I obviously pay more for the one I chose but in the end I received a fiat 500 which is very basic car. The budget staff told me the only car available, if I wanted to upgrade I would have to pay extra fee. I chose a good car with good technology and pay for it and received a very basic car very small. It was very frustrating and disappointed as when I rent a car with others company if they dont have the car I booked, they would upgraded it not downgrade it. Budget never again and if you don’t want a bad surprise go with others cheaper than this. I felt like paying for an iPhone and received an gradient phone

Pick up in dark garage. Had to add two scratches to the contract which gave me a bad feeling already. Car and staff were okay though. At return, two small scratches at the wheels I did not see before and did not cause were charged (600€), which could be repaired much cheaper though they probably will never be. After dozens of rentals, this is the first time I feel scammed. As other reviews show, this seems to be a pattern for this station. Budget management should investigate. Also, fees for entering i.a. Slovenia are ridiculous and apply for the whole rent even if you just drive through. Budget? Only for people with a very big budget and who just don't care. Never again.

Everything went ok. Only minor thing was that they forgot to give the ticket to exit the car park. The car was pretty new - no issues there. Return was quick. Thank you.

Update: the issue was more or less handled. It seems that this branch is unprofessional - I received diesel car and on the first day Adblue indicator was lit with a message that the car won't start in a couple of hundred kilometers. I didn't know what it is so it didn't add to my vacation mood. Not related to that, after a couple of days the car broke down. 2 and a half hours waiting for the service - another ruined day. And what I've received - 50 euro reimbursement. it's just a joke. not to mention the rip off insurance price, but it's business as usual. Such a shame
