Unfortunately, I can not give 0 stars, as that is my experience here. This is by far the worst student hostel in Vienna, the rents are overpriced and strangely you pay "damage" that you did not cause and again cost when leaving the home. It is extremely disturbing from Monday to Sunday because many clubs are very close. The cleaning lady comes once a week and cleans only coarse, which is very questionable because you can NOT refuse to come .. I mean you have to learn etc .... Some of the roommates here are very nice, on the other hand, some behave like pigs .. it is very often dirty .. Distribute cigarette butts and celebrate every 2 nights until early, where you can see from the balcony. In addition, the manager does not care at all .. but the main thing only costs. That is rude . Never again.

Lived in Campus Studios during the corona pandemic so some things could not be rated. I was completely satisfied. I recommend moving into the campus studios, especially for short stays (approx. 1 semester) and for people who are traveling from far away, due to the very good facilities and the comparatively higher price. Assessment of the Campus Studios in general: + Equipment (fitness room, sauna, etc.) + Location (especially for WUler and SFUler; approx. 15 to 25 minutes to districts around the inner city) + Availability and friendliness of the staff + Common room + kitchen + Dormitory space can be canceled flexibly (especially well suited for semesters abroad and travel from far away in general) - Little dorm community (possibly exclusively due to Corona) - Fitness room includes basic equipment, but does not replace the fitness studio in any way Rating of the single studio Gr. L: + very spacious + modern equipment (stove, extractor hood, TV, etc.) + very thoughtful equipment and furnishings (essential things are available and arranged / installed to save space) + a lot of storage space for clothes + spacious balcony - Price (okay for what you get (advantages of the entire system), expensive for comparable apartments in Vienna) - The stove top is quite small

Lived in this home for about two years. Really enjoyed my stay at Campus Studios. I was particularly impressed by the top location. The home is located directly at the Praterpark, in a very quiet, almost car-free zone. The U2 takes you directly to the University of Vienna at Schottentor, as well as to the TU Vienna at Karlsplatz. The home is also right next to the WU Vienna or SFU. The Praterstern train station is also nearby. The home has a fitness room, sauna, laundry room (1.30 € per wash), communal kitchen, study room, as well as a party room in which the home management regularly organizes parties. Rooms are cleaned every two weeks. Problems or questions were always dealt with quickly. I am very satisfied and can recommend this home to everyone.

I had an M (23sqm) studio for two years and was amazed at how spacious the room actually was. Enough space in the kitchen, to work at the desk and in the bathroom, which is why I recommend this size to everyone. Especially on the balcony (aligned with a view of the Prater) you could relax very much. The internal, extremely nice cleaning staff cleaned thoroughly about every two weeks. If something had to be repaired in the room, you were informed at least a week in advance. A fitness room, a sauna, a party and music room as well as a common room (air conditioning) with a kitchen were available as additional facilities. Here, too, everything was very tidy and tidy most of the time. In general, I really liked it here. Above all, the direct location on the WU campus, so that I didn't have a long way to the WU Bib, where I spent a lot of time. The only negative points for me that I can add are: • The noise of the clubs, which are about 300 meters away, from Wednesday to Saturday night • The long way to the TU for me • unfortunately not a kind of large community like in other student residences (which was often tried with parties) Finally, I would like to say thank you for the great time at Campus Studios.

Very nice rooms and the location is awesome. However, you need to consider some negative aspects. There is a lot of noise in summer due to a boxing machine and two clubs which are nearby the dorm. The access to sauna is restricted to 4 days a week and not always accessible during opening hours. You need to book it one day in advance and depending on your luck you might get it. In some rooms the ventilation from the kitchen does not have a connection outside therefore the rooms can become very smelly sometimes. The laundry room access is done through a booking system that is not always respected by the house residents. Apart from that, there is a party room which you can book with money for your private events and there is a cleaning service every 2 weeks included in the rent.

I aim to make this a fair and useful critical review for foreign students in Vienna. Compared to renting an apartment privately the Akademikerhilfe Freudplatz Studios are definitely expensive for what you get (expect to pay 600-900 euros per month). You could easily get your own medium sized apartment with multiple rooms in another district for the same price. However, when you consider the effort required in searching for apartments, going to inspections, sorting the documentation, compared with the very simple and very efficient process offered by Akademikerhilfe and the fact that most students don't want or need a large apartment then the Freudplatz studios are a very good option. It is also worth noting that at Freudplatz the apartments come fully furnished and cleaned fortnightly, unlikely to be the case for a privately sourced apartment, which you may need to buy furniture and appliances for yourself. The rooms are well equipped, expect your own TV, a balcony on all but the 2nd floor, high speed "connect and go" internet (40 Mbps download), good size beds in L sized apartments and larger, a reasonable sized kitchen, hindered only by the lack of an oven, a bar style fridge and a stove which despite having 2 hotplates only has space for one pot/saucepan, modern bathroom, a good size desk and ample storage space in cupboards. There are also facilities such as a community room and kitchen, fitness room, party room and sauna. Washing machines and driers are available at 1.30 euro per load. The location is also excellent if you study at the WU (adjacent), although it is also directly on the U2 U-bahn line and just 4 stations/10 mins away from most University of Vienna buildings. So all up in my opinion not the cheapest option but definitely very convenient for students who don't want the hassle associated with sourcing an apartment privately. I would also suggest that despite what has been said in previous reviews - if you are stringent and thorough in your initial documentation of the room condition upon check in you should have no problem getting your deposit back (approximately 1100 euros after the final 100 euro cleaning fee has been charged). So thats Akademikerhilfe Freudplatz studios vs a private apartment. I now offer a comparison between Akademikerhilfe Freudplatz studios and the Milestone apartments, located some 300 m from the Akademikerhilfe apartments. At the Milestone apartments you can expect to pay an almost identical rent to the Akademikerhilfe Freudplatz apartments, however at Milestone you can expect: no balcony, no TV supplied, the requirement of renting a router from them in order to access the internet (75 euros, 25 euro rent + 50 euro deposit), slower internet (4 Mbps download) that drops out on occasion, a completely transparent bathroom door meaning that you can look directly from the main room into the bathroom offering absolutely zero privacy if any other person is in the apartment at any time for any reason, a smaller kitchen, a significatly smaller bed (less than half size), key lock based electricity switch, similar amount of storage space, monthly cleaning (unless you pay extra), 3.60 euro!! per use of washing machine, free driers, a similar fitness room. I hope that this information is useful to students when assessing their accommodation options.
