Very nice view, very fair prices for the food and drinks shown on the menu and friendly service. However, since we experienced a surprise with the bill regarding the very delicious goulash soup prepared over the fire, we can only give it a star. In comparison to all other dishes and to our astonishment, this cost more than twice and was not shown on the menu. The taste is great! Next time we will ask beforehand. There is also a museum that we have not visited.

I spent a very nice afternoon "with friends" today. The museum is small but nice and equipped with unique exhibits. A pleasure for every railroad enthusiast. The operators are extremely nice and the food was excellent! You sit on the terrace almost above the railway line and the landscape is spectacular. I cannot recommend the Ghega Museum as a destination!

There is a very nice guest garden and good snacks, plus the beautiful view of the Semmeringer Railway and the Kalte Rinne viaduct. Unfortunately you cannot visit the museum due to Covid

The terrace seat outside the museum is the shooting point. Since the time that can be taken is from 10 am to 3 pm, I photographed the train in connection with the famous Carte Linne Bridge at that time. Construction work of a new tunnel (Semering base tunnel) is underway at the bottom of Semering, and freight trains and express trains (Railjet, Eurocity) will be removed from the current route and will pass through the Semering base tunnel when it opens. It will be nice to shoot now.

Costo 38€ a testa andata e ritorno. Durata 1ora e 15 min circa. Treno pulitissimo e sevizio top. Comunque tour consigliato.
Today I went to Semmering from Vienna by train, the aim was to visit a small village in the Austrian hinterland and visit the well-known Ghega Museum. First of all, we bought the tickets with ease at the central Stacion in Vienna which can be reached by underground. Cost € 38 per head round trip. Duration about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Spotless train and top service. The view is very nice but accustomed to alpine landscapes nothing new except that I admired them sitting comfortably in the train and it's not bad! Once in Semmering we walked for a few hours before figuring out which was the right path to reach the museum but now the time was limited and we did not reach it in time. I strongly advise you to follow the yellow indication that I report in the attached photos (bahnoff Breitenstein), even if he does not write "museum" but the direction is right. Fortunately, the walk still gave us magnificent views and was still a success. Too bad for the museum though .. remember to sit on the left side of the train to get a better view. However tour recommended.

ACHTUNG! WARNING! Nice view and friendly service. They are a bit sneaky though as they were bubbling up a cauldron in a fairytale setting. Like the wicked witch in snow white, they charge an unexpected 8€ for the goulash. Most other things on the menu were 1-2€. Would have been four stars without this. #readyourfairytales
