Josef Ressel, einer der Erfinder des Schiffspropellers, hat es nicht verdient, im Jahr 2020 von Jugendlichen beschmutzt zu werden.
Josef Ressel, one of the inventors of the ship's propeller, did not deserve to be polluted by young people in 2020.

You will find the Josef Ressel Monument at Karlsplatz in Vienna. Ressel was a German-Czech forester and inventor who is credited with having designed one of the first working ship propellers during the 1820s. This statue is the works of Austrian sculptor Anton Dominik Ritter von Fernkorn in 1863. Here you find Ressel, standing in formal attire with cloak. His left hand resting on a ship propeller while his right arm crosses his chest. The statue stands upon a pedestal with bronze inscription. It is an interesting monument and historical figure. Give it a few minutes to enjoy if you plan on viewing the monuments at Karlsplatz during your stay in Vienna.

This monument stands in tribute to Josef Ressel, a 19th century inventor who designed one of the world’s first working ship propeller. The monument is a bronze sculpture and depicts a standing Ressel dressed as a gentleman of the 19th century. Beside him on the left is a small table with a sphere like object which Ressel is resting his left hand on. The sculpture is fairly simple with much detail except his outfit. Worth a quick look if you’re in Resselpark, but I wouldn’t go out of the way otherwise.
