I love the 3D image of Salzwelten. It presents the history of rock salt and the oldest staircase in Europe. It preserved very well and displayed in front of the people ?

The salt mine in Hallstatt is a very interesting place to visit for families and couples. The tour guide speaks in German and English, but there is also an app that you can download which includes an audio guide in MANY languages including Hebrew. The whole experience starts with riding the cable car to the top of the hill/mountain and a small hike/walk with beautiful views of Hallstatt with audio guide until you get to the salt mine entrance. There are bathrooms in the entrance to the salt mines. They will give you pants and button down shirt to wear before you start the tour in your size. The tour has a variety of media and also two wooden slides which makes it fun and interesting between the explanations. There are displays of different kinds of salt from around the world, an explanation of how the salt it extracted from the mine, how the mine formed, and how it was discovered many years ago. During the tour you will see videos as well. At the end of the tour, you take a small ride on a kind of tram/train thing out of the mine. This place can also suit older people or pregnant women. The slides are not mandatory - there are stairs for people who prefer that. Overall, a really information and cool place to visit. The only down side is the price which is pretty high 71€ for two people.

Not so bad considering the view and experience we got. The price for public toilet is €0.80 (while at the ticket it said €0.50) and it wasn't so clean. Souvenir shop can be bit too pricey (tourist price) but it has decent amount of goods to sell. Tram to go up to the mountain during normal holiday could be crowded and cramped (it said max 24 person per departure). If you hungry there's restaurant up there, waiter was nice and friendly

Nice place! We did a tour and it was cool! There is not a lot of stuff to see, but the guide was very friendly and the slides were amazing. ? Definitely something you can do as a family. Also the views are superb! ?

I really enjoyed the museum and the tour of the salt mine. It was very informative and there's a lot to see inside. It's supposed to be the oldest salt mine in the world and the tour goes through all its history, from ancient times to modern days. The slides and the short train ride are a nice touch and everyone has fun using them.
