★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited Hallstatt and former area around salt mine 'Cristine' approx. 27 years ago. A lot of changes happened... To better. Just maybe, some landscape views never comes back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Interesting tour of the salt mines. One big negative is that the educational videos are not translated into English. There are some but nothing more. The German voiceover is very detailed, but all of this is lost to a non-DE person.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice tour, suitable for older children with slides and educational videos. It is not suitable for children < 4 years. But there is a cafe over there for your partner to wait in if you like. The tour takes around 70 min in German/English.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ nice place to visit in summer. we went with family and it was super fun. only drawback is the long queue. every but penny is worth once you enter. i suggest you travel early from salzburg and come direct to the hallstatt first and visit this place first before going to any other place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mine-wise it is not so spectacular, due to the relative easiness of salt mining. Big pluses are the age of 7000 and the wooden stair at the end of the trip. The tour is long, funny for families with children - you have 2 slides, movies in the caves, one train and two funicular trips (if you choose the funicular option), quite informative, and the view over the lake is superb. I suppose it is even better in winter, with snow covering everything.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice tour. Very informative. You can download an app for audio guide for outside exposition. Indoor the guide was quite funny and with lots of films, walking through the mine corridors, an two slide rides and a train ride in the end. Still the ticket is a bit expensive (around 35-40 euros) but if you have in mind that that money is used for other archaeological excavations then it is ok. It is recommended for the families with children. One of the downsides, the cave man was not presented considering historical fact, but it is ok for children
