The room is quiet, clean and cosy the bathroom is tidy and there is new soup and clean towel only 15 minutes walk from the dowtown, with many great vegan restaurants.

A 15-20 min walk to the city center (e.g. the cathedral). Parking slot available and priced 14 EUR per night. Somewhat rude reception staff - two guys talking to each other barely noticing us. Inefficient service at breakfast - it takes ages before a table is prepared for the next guests. Will be looking for some other venue while in Salzburg next time.

We stayed for one night at the Mercure on a stopover in Salzburg. The visit started off right - I had asked to be notified if early check-in was possible, and Ms. Benedick called me the day before and told me that this would be available from their end. Very welcome news. We arrived and found the place very easily. Parking is available above or below ground, for 14 Euros a day (we parked overnight and was out within 24 hours, and was charged a member fee of 12 Euros). Ms. Benedick greeted us, and I think she was the best part of the hotel. Super friendly and helpful. When the keycards wouldn't work for us, she came up with us to try to fix the doors, and literally ran back downstairs to get new door cards when the entrances still wouldn't work. I would be happy to have her greeting us at any hotel we stayed at in the future. The person on night shift wasn't as great. The first time we tried to find her, she was in the restaurant having a drink. I tried to call down later in the night to the front desk with no answer; I walked down and found her in the back room watching her phone. She was super friendly once she was found, but didn't have the discipline that Ms. Benedick had. There are no family rooms at the Mercure; they gave us two interconnected rooms. Honestly, this worked great. The kids had their own room, giving us a measure of privacy. And the best part: two bathrooms! Honestly, such a huge selling point with this type of set-up. The rooms themselves were a little worn, but well-maintained. My mattress was older and was sagging in the middle, and the pillows had very little substance to them (more pillows can be requested at reception). The rooms were quiet, though we were awoken by a loud dog in the morning at the nearby park. Our little mini-fridge was not working, which we did not discover until the morning after the food we had put inside came out warm. The location is great - short walk to the restaurants and stores on Linzer Gasse, and across the bridge to the attractions on the other side of the bridge. A convenient option for those that do not wish to be further out and mess with the busses (which, in our experience, are easy to navigate regardless). The hotel itself I'd only rate 3-3.5 stars, but bumping this up to four due to the service by Ms. Benedick. She is a credit to the chain and hopefully recognized as such.

I chose it because I'm their gold member. For that they assigned a room in a quieter part of the hotel, also a welcome dessert plate. Room is clean and everything is functioning. Very quiet at night and I sleep very well. The location is so so I must say, quite a long walk to the old Town, and still some distance from the train station. Not exactly easy if you got suitcases to handle. After a day or two I got used to it. Overall it did feel like it's suited in a suburb rather than part of town, but Salzburg is fairly small. It has excellent bus system. Despite the distance, they charge a reasonable rate, so it's fair.

My wife and I stayed for two nights. The location is okay - a bit of walking to the town and train station, but managable distance. The room is also fine. The only issue we have is the pillow - it's not the most comfortable if I may say. I like the professionalism of their staff - they had a e-lock problem with the rooms, but they communicate well to us and got it fixed in a reasonable time (while we were out actually so we were not really bothered by the problem). I also like their breakfast. The restaurant is spacious, and the food selection is nice. A good overall experience. Thanks for having us.
