I stayed here for 5 nights over New Year so my family and I could go skiing. I booked it last minute for a very reasonable price, other guests said they’d been coming for years. The booking was for half board, which meant that breakfast and dinner were included in the price, my bill at the end of the stay was for drinks only. The hotel is spotlessly clean, like you hadn’t realised other places were a bit grubby until you stay here. The food is some of the best I have had in a while, their signature puddings are works of art. (That cigar in the picture is a delicious pudding.) Everything is cooked to perfection, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get a Michelin star one day. The service is very warm and friendly. English OK. We had a modest room, fine for our needs. There is also a spa with pool, sauna, steam room, heat room and relaxing area. Some of the locals go naked in the sauna, pool a swimsuit is compulsory. I even spotted a table tennis table on the way out. If you are foody or wine lover it is an amazing choice. The dinners can last quite a long time for younger kids, so they seemed happy with people bringing toys and whatnot for the younger ones. The Ski area is across the road very short walk to begin skiing (3 lifts within 100m) and the skiing is grand.

Great hotel at a great location. The room was nice and comfortable, it had a small fridge and it was possible separate the beds which is always nice. Included in the reasonably priced half board was an abundant breakfast buffet and an interesting five course dinner. A big plus was the size of the portions that actually we're big enough, unlike most other fancy restaurants were you could eat 5 dishes and still be hungry. But not here! Super fresh and fulfilling food.

We stayed there in Dec 2018, the service and place was exceptional ! ... The hotel is located opposite to the Gondala. The Gappmaier family runs this place and personal touch can felt at every corner. My wife was s vegetarian and that particular day we were in a rush to catch the next flight. The hosts sure we had food packed so we could eat it on the car. That was personal caretaking at its best. Def recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Kohlmais hotel for a week with half board. This turned out to be a fantastic choice. Our room was the 'Junior Suite Familiennest', a recently renovated room with a fantastic view. The room is very spacious, there is a very good bed and the rain shower is great. There are two relaxing chairs on the (also spacious) balcony. Then about the food, if you book half board, you get a 4-course dinner every evening. Actually five, because there is also a salad buffet to start with. The first, second course and dessert are the chef's choice. For the main course you can choose from three options every day: meat, fish and vegetarian. Because I am pregnant I have taken the vegetarian option a number of times and these were delicious and varied dishes. For example, couscous stuffed peppers with Parmesan chips and mushroom goulash. Of course you can also skip a course if you like. The only thing I can think of is that in the Netherlands we are used to coffee/tea facilities in the room, but because we had seen this in advance we had brought our Nespresso with us :-) Thank you for a fantastic stay and hope to see you next time

Our stay with Kohlmais was wonderful. The food was exceptionally good and we felt this together with the hotel proximity to the ski lift were the best features. The staff were all very helpful and there was indeed a family atmosphere which was very inclusive. There were a few minor details which would have made our stay even better though. A kettle in the room would have enabled us to make a cup of tea without having to pay for one. Only one pillow per person was also not great and the pillows and mattress were not good quality. We would also like to have been able to take a swim without the pool being full of children after our days skiing. But the kids dominated the pool area until supper. On our last night we hurried supper to enable us to have a quiet swim at 8.15pm but all the doors to the pool were locked. keeping the pool open until 9pm would have been lovely.
