First of all, we went in to ask if we could get a car. We were turned down immediately. When I was checked on their website online, I was able to book a car. The car was alright. But returning it after hours was a nightmare. We were supposed to return it at the parking lot of the Europa hotel next door. But the parking lot was full. We had been instructed to park at the Shell Fuel Station nearby. The Shell station refused to let us park. We had to wait for 3.5 hours in the hotel parking lot to get a spot to park. It was a pathetic experience! I would advise you against an after hours return for this location!!

Be EXTREMELY careful when you pick up cars from this location and take a lot of photos of the car you are given and make them inspect with you and note down any tiny nick or scratch. Also make sure you look underneath the front and rear bumpers and along the sides and take photos there too. You cannot trust this branch to be reasonable like you can a normal car hire company would be. They take an $840 excess deposit off your credit card because they want to keep it and they will look very hard for any excuse to do that no matter how small the scratch/damage is. The mistake I made was not taking photos of the underneath of the vehicle especially the front and back bumpers and the alloy wheels. When you return the car they ask you park it in this hotels car park out the front of their branch which has very high gutters and so they seem to assume everyone scrapes the bumpers on them even if you don't and they will look very hard to find a scratch so they can charge you $840 euros for the tiniest of scratches to the underneath of the bumpers. When you explain everything was fine when you dropped the car off they advise you that there is a clause in your contract that the car is your responsibility until it is accepted back by their office so when there driver takes it from the hotel car park and puts it back in their garage and maybe damages the car on the way they say YOU are responsible for that damage. This branch has done this sort of thing before see yelp for another example and so I think they must do it quite often because they seem very well practised at explaining why a very small scrape that I didn't cause entitles them to the entire $840 euro excess regardless of the actual cost of repair which would be $100 euros at most. So protect yourself and make sure you have documented every nick or scratch above and below the car in writing and with photos. Also, make sure you return the car directly to them and make sure they inspect it in your presence and sign your return slip sighting no new damage. Do not return your hire car to the hotel car park that they will ask you to drop it off at or you will end up being "fined" 840 euros like I was.

Agree with previous reviews that returning after hours was a nightmare. The person who handed over the car to us mentioned that we can park in front of Hotel Europa or their underground parking. The parking in front of the hotel was full and the underground parking is not easy to locate and no directions were given to us by a Hertz. After looking for an hour, and checking in with the hotel receptionist (who was extremely rude and refused to give directions as she said her job was just to collect the keys), we finally gave up and parked in a different garage where we have to pay an exorbitant fee for overnight parking. Secondly, the lady who inspected our car after we returned it pointed that there was a tiny scratch on the rim of the tire. Thankfully, we had taken photos before the car was given to us and showed her that it's an existing scratch. It should not be our job to document the condition of the car before it is handed to us. This is extremely unprofessional behavior and we were very disappointed with our experience.

DON'T DON'T rent a car with this service. They closed the office when I was needed return the car. They asked me to park the car in the underground parking and put the keys in the reception of the Hotel close to the office of Hertz. They send me invoice of damage for 750EURO regarding damage. No-one is checked the car after I finish my rental. They just making a money from you after the rent service. DON'T take a cars from them. The thieves. Shame on you.

READ IT, before you will decide to rent a car here. This car rental service will try to cheat on you. They will send you a damage report a week after. They will do anything to charge you on some damage, that someone else. Hertz Salzburg definitely a worst place to rent a car. Avoid my mistakes. Don't trust this place.

Customer service was ok. We didn't get the car we requested but something in the same class. Returning the car was quite annoying. We returned it on Saturday during office hours. They said to park the car on the strip in front of the office or around the corner by the hotel. No spots anywhere! We looped around several times and eventually a spot freed up in front of Hertz. Also that street infront of Hertz is a single lane so if cars are exiting you can't go in (very bad design/area to designate for drop off).

Excellent car rental center. I'm not sure why the reviews are lower, we had a smooth and easy rental experience. Andres was one of the best service men I've ever interacted with! Extremely helpful and thorough in explaining the regulations and reviewing the state of our rental car. Thanks Andres!

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! They will charge you an extra fee even if your car was returned on-time, filled with fuel and has no damage. When we returned our car during business hours, the Hertz desk was closed, so a different rental company had to help us figure out where to park the Hertz car (I will be renting from that company next time). Did not contact me or send me a receipt until 3 weeks after the car was returned and big surprise there was a charge for an extra day even though I was well within the 1 hour grace period.
