★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It all began with Rudolf I, the first Habsburg to move the power base to Austria and began its dynasty of the ruler of Austria. Right here, inside the In der Burg, stands the monument to the last emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Emperor Franz II who became Kaiser Franz I, the first emperor of the Austrian Empire. Confused the hell out of me trying to piece together that Francis I and Francis II is the same person, when there’s another Francis I in the same family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This statue grouping resides just off the heldenplatz of the volksgarten of the Imperial Palace complex. Franz 1 is depicted as Ceasar although his Holy Roman Empire was much much smaller than Ceasar's empire.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There is an impressive monument in the small courtyard at the Hapsburg Palace that is worth viewing when passing through the palace grounds between Michaelerplatz and Heldenplatz
This is a large scale monument and the works of Italian sculptor Pompeo Marchesi in 1846. Here you find Francis II, the last Holy Roman Emperor whose reign lasted from 1792 to 1806, standing in robe with sceptre in his left hand. His right hand is pointing to the right as if he is addressing a crowd in that direction.
The monument is standing upon a pedestal covered with bas reliefs. There are also four different bronze figures depicting moral virtues of religion, peace, justice and strength that surround the Kaiser Franz statue.
This is a nice monument to see for those who enjoy this type of sightseeing during their travels.

This beautiful monument to the emperor is located at the Hofburg Palace. The four statues at the base of the monument represent religion, peace, justice, and strength.
