I can't comment on the company's service I just wanted to buy a bicycle pump quickly. It was shortly after 1 p.m. and there were 5 people standing in front of the shop (I guess they borrowed a bike) I went into the shop and said hello (I didn't know that the employee or the head of the company actually had lunch break) and was snapped at with very clear looks and an extremely annoyed tone with "It's noon". Said "fits", turned around and left !! Customer friendliness definitely looks different! If 5 people are standing in front of the shop, I don't assume that the shop has just closed or has actually already closed!

We had reserved 2 Mtb (explicitly fullys) by phone and even received an email confirmation (including questions about our size and pedal requests). After arriving in the morning, the employee first told us that he didn't know about our reservation. But he had fullys there. What he then showed us, however, drowned us at first: D Full suspension yes, but from the early 90s at the most, steel frame, not even disc brakes, suspension for the A ****, and different sizes or pedals as asked before not it three times. Then we declined and instead drove to Samerberg where we luckily could still borrow decent Mtbs .... so thanks for nothing :( less than 1 star is unfortunately not possible ...

We were very satisfied. Accessories were provided free of charge. The racing bikes were also in good condition (they weren't old bikes), great to ride, we had a lot of fun.

Basically, I wanted to put as much time and effort into the evaluation as the owner of the bike rental put into looking after our two e-bike rental bikes (premium), but after the friendly request I am happy to share our experiences . It all started with the fact that our two rental bikes were not available at the bike rental point advertised on the website, but were prepared for us after the on-site employee's consultation with the owner in the actual bike shop, which was a little further away (information was available in advance no). After about 20-25 minutes (maybe a little longer, it was our first day in Salzburg and we didn't know the place) we were on site, but no trace of the owner. After a few calls and another 10-15 minutes of waiting, someone finally came and we got the bikes. I could not understand the information, "We are pretty late and it is lunch break", according to the website the bike rental is open from 09:30 - 18:00 & the employee of the rental at the Staatsbrücke also had the information for him communicates that we are on our way straight away. After almost an hour of walking and waiting, we were somewhat disappointed when we received our bikes. We didn't care about the fact that the tour package that was supposedly included in the price was missing, but we didn't ask explicitly either. So we set off, unfortunately heavily delayed But that did not end our misery, unfortunately we noticed when we were back to the Salzach after 1-2 kilometers that one bike only showed a range of 30km, which was far from the promised range of 80-100km premium model. We drove straight to the bike rental at the Staatsbrücke, where we explained the situation to the local employee. We didn't feel like it anymore and wanted to return the two bikes due to the lack of performance (we had borrowed the bike for a tour of + 60km). After consulting with the owner, he gave us 2 options, without any further options. Option 1 was to return and terminate the rental contract, but the owner insisted on a processing fee of 50 (!) € on the phone Option 2 was that we bring the bike back to the bike shop and have a member of staff take a look at it. Since option 1 would not be an option for us, we made our way back again and you will hardly believe it, we were moved another 20 (!) Minutes. After the employee had found and installed a new battery after looking for something, the bike worked without any problems and also achieved the corresponding range. In addition to smaller, possibly not STVO-compliant, technical defects that were not pointed out (my bike supports up to approx. 45kmh and the brakes on the handlebars were reversed) the wheels were then okay. All in all, a service that we could have safely done without on our weekend holiday.

The shop does not hire out bicycles. The bicycle hire part is back by the river on the footpath between the footbridge with the padlocks and the next bridge. The guy in the shop barked at us,he is busy repairing bikes and does not want people coming in...well we walked 20 mins out of our way and 20 mins back now you grumpy tosser.

Walter was extremely helpful. I purchased a decent used bike at the Antiquariat nearby on Aiglhofstraße for €120, then brought it to Walter for a new basket & basket mount. He charged €47 total for the basket and mount; no charge for the assembly and a little oil/tune-up. Very pleased! Good, honest service.

Fine for a day, not for bike trekkings. This shop is probably fine for renting a bike for 1 day to explore Salzburg. However, they also claim to rent trekking bikes and equipment, which is NOT the case. We went on a 17-day trekking trip and arranged bikes from this store. The staff were friendly, but that being said, in our experience their service was amateurish, dishonest and insufficient. First of all, communication was very slow and they needed several reminders by email or phone, so we weren't certain about the bikes until just before departure. The picture of the e-bike they sent us did not correspond to what we were given on site, which was a much older and heavier type of bike with a very large and heavy external charger that we had to drag around. Needless to say that this is not ideal for a trekking where you have your luggage on your bike. My husband’s bike was an old but sturdy model, so that was fine. We had asked in advance if they had trekking panniers. They assured us they had 2 sets of “trekking bags” (“quantity each 30L”). However, when we got there, they only had regular and very small city bike paniers of no more than maybe 15L each. Needless to say, we had to leave behind some of our (already little) luggage. Naturally, we indicated that this would not do. They ‘helped us out’ by giving us an iron basket that they strapped onto the bike rack, but this was not ideal in terms of balance and made the bike wiggle when descending. Moreover, half of the space in the basket was taken up by the large ebike charger. Luckily, we brought 1 rain cover with us because they didn't have that either… Then we asked for some ‘handlebar paniers’. What we got were really just small camera bags and consequently opened away from you when you’re on the bike. Not very practical, especially because I had to put the water bottle in there because there wasn’t a bottle rack on my bike. This meant stopping to drink some water, which is just ridiculous. The worst part is that we asked them clearly in advance if they were real trekking bags (and asked for pictures, which never came), because we could bring ours with us if necessary. Too bad we trusted them on their word. Our complaints were met with an indifferent shrug: no action or suggestion to help us out. As a result, we were left to fend for ourselves on the morning when we were supposed to take off, causing a delay of almost half a day because we had to look for a trekking bag. They were sold out everywhere so in the end we bought an extra sports bag with another rain cover and an elastic strap, which were not refunded by A'Velo (or what did we expect?). Even a discount was never brought up. Of course, loading and unloading the bikes every evening was quite a hassle compared to just clicking a trekking bag on and off. To top it all, the front wheel of one of the bikes kept wiggling. When we checked this, it turned out they had forgotten to close a switch. In effect, the wheel was loose in the frame, which could have caused a major accident riding downhill at a high speed. We were left wondering why they did not simply tell us that they don’t deal in trekking materials. In short, A’Velo is probably fine for renting a city bike for a day, but they are not up to what they claim.
