Zimmer sind klein, aber total in Ordnung. Etwas teuer.
Rooms are small, but totally ok. A bit expensive. The environmental situation with noise and dust is a problem.

The deposit has still not been paid back more than six months after moving out, and so far no response to my messages.

The student hostel is surrounded by a huge construction site. From morning to night you can hear machines and the extremely loud work. Sometimes it was so bad that my glasses started to shake on the shelf due to drilling. Vacuum cleaners are promised that are never available because they are always hoarded by someone in the home. Also part of the contract is a weekly cleaning service for the common rooms. However, most of these have to be cleaned by yourself. If this is not done, the home management takes extremely drastic measures and simply unplugs refrigerators, stovetops & ovens in the common rooms so that they are unusable, which is like breaking a rental contract. Furthermore, the home management does everything possible to split the student community, which was really great at the beginning, and not to allow any form of gathering, which is so beautifully proclaimed on their website, because it involves pollution of the general kitchen. Then I seriously ask myself whether the purpose of a STUDENT home, where getting to know one another and the intercultural exchange should actually be important, has not been understood. Under the label fraud of a “foundation”, the home is a pure profit machine with cost savings everywhere. TVs and tables that broke more than a year ago are not being repaired vehemently.

Near the train station. The minus is now building. All other pluses, next to a new building, parking, excellent transport interchange, park, pharmacy, 2 shops, the bank office "Erste", station, library. The apartments are excellent: microwave, hob, fridge. Nice shower with toilet, big. The room has many shelves, cabinets, a comfortable bed, a wide table. In the basement is a shared kitchen with an oven, paid washing machines, dryer and iron. There is a place for communication.

Regardless of intercultural pictures on the website and the English name, the long term rents are only for Austrians.

Would recommend as a short-term solution only. The rooms are small but in a good shape. The quality of the furniture, kitchen and the bathroom is high. The U1 line is around 12 min away by foot. It is surrounded by building sites and a railway which can get very loud at times. Will probably be nicer in 2022-2023 when hopefully all buildings around the dorm are finished. It is a relatively new dorm so it does not really function as a community but if you're lucky you can meet some cool people, although I would avoid it if you're looking for a party/international/vivid dorm. The rooms are available to everyone - not only for students. They asked me to move out 5 days earlier because the technician ( Mr. Faltner - who is a very cool guy) was supposed to be on vacation at the time of my check out and they could not find a replacement person? Eventually he did not take the vacation and I moved out as planned but there mere fact that they asking me to move out earlier gives you a hint about the state of the administration of the dorm. Ms. Ayse Aras who used to work there was also very sweet and helpful. The TV in the community room was broken for the whole duration of my stay (~9 months). The vacuum cleaners are almost never available, so I would suggest buying one for yourself. At one point the administration disabled the community oven and refrigerator because the students were leaving it in a bad condition. During the Corona lockdown they showed zero concern about the health of the tenants and have not sent any e-mails with advice on how to handle the situation. Often you can see rabbits from your window which is honestly really cool. There is a huge number of them in the vicinity of Helmut-Zilk-Park, they eat grass and chill and if you're lucky you can get a nice photo of them. All in all the room served me OK as a temporary solution until I was able to find a suitable WG. As mentioned, the whole area surrounding the dorm is still being built so you will often feel like you're living in a ghost town, especially during the colder days/months. I would not recommend this place to a friend but if you are in an urgent need of accommodation it's not that bad. After all, some people to who I talked to really like it, so it also comes down to your personal preferences. I lived in Pfeilheim 3A before and even though the rooms there are in a much worse condition I would still choose it over this dorm, since the atmosphere is much more cozy and it has an active community and a decades long tradition. That is something that Martin-Buber-Haus lacks desperately. P.S. I attached a couple of photos from inside and the outside of the dorm to give you a better feel of the place. I rated them with 3 stars although my heart says 2 stars!
