Très bon accompagnement sur les pas de Sigmund Freud sur les lieux ou il a étudié, travaillé, vécu. L esprit de l époque et du milieu professionnel et culturel est bien présenté et nous permet de comprendre l aspect novateur de son travail.
Very good accompaniment in the footsteps of Sigmund Freud on the places where he studied, worked, lived. The spirit of the time and the professional and cultural environment is well presented and allows us to understand the innovative aspect of his work.

Our guide Lena was cultured, pleasant and well-informed and made what was already an interesting trip an even better one. I am an historian and my wife is a psychoanalyst and we learnt much about Vienna and about Freud from the tour, which might well have gone on for more than the two-and-a-half hours that it did had we not felt that Lena had more than fulfilled her duty by then. We liked the way that she had some interesting "real-life" stories about the Freuds, as well as being well-read about his work and identifying places where the people of Vienna have neglected to indicate that he worked or lived. She also in passing showed us places associated with a range of other figures from Beethoven to Mark Twain to Marlene Dietrich. The tour started at the Hotel Regina and remained largely in the Ninth District where the old university is. We had agreed to join another couple so the price for the two of us was set at half of the total tour price of Euro 160. The American couple cancelled late, which seemed unfair to the tour operator because there is no deposit or advance payment. In these circumstances we were not asked to pay more than the total of Euro 80 agreed for us Lena left us on Berggasse outside the Freud Museum (Freud's home and office until the Nazi era), which we visited to round off a successful Freudian interlude.

My wife an I took my mom to the tour as it was her first time in Vienna and as a psychologist she was really keen to learn and see anything that could connect her to Freud and Carl Jung. Our tour was guided by Nini, a lovely Viennese who is really knowledgable and patient. My mom has a very basic understanding of the English language so I asked Nini to allow me to translate everything to her as she guided us, Nini kindly waited for me and slowed down her speaking speed so my mom could pick the bits that she could understand as we went along. The tour will take you to the main spots related to Freud’s life in Vienna, which is almost his entire life: the University of Vienna; his first treatment clinic; the psychoanalysis institute; the theatre where he watched Oedipus for the first time, among others. Nini fills your experience with side stories about his addiction to Cocaine, relationship with families and friends, teachers and mentors and people who loved or hated him. If you are wondering if the tour is worth the time and money, stop thinking and go for it to have a great time and learn a lot! Thanks Nini!
