This monument stands in tribute to Siegfried Marcus, a 19th century Austrian inventor credited with inventing the first petrol powered engine. He held over 131 patents, mostly related to electrical and mechanical systems. The monument is a bronze bust of Marcus and depicts him as a man in middle age with well groomed hair down to ear length.. The bust shows his upper torso and face, the latter showing his with an impassive, but dignified expression on his face (he also has a goatee). The monument is located in Resselpark amongst many other monuments to inventors. Worth a quick look if you’re in Resselpark, but I don’t go out of the way to see it.
