★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our tour had a night stayed in this small hotel and took the dinner as well as breakfast here. We were totally surprised and impressed by the hospitality and the professionalism of their staff during the two meals. They were nice, polite and helpful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hotel Scherer gave me what I needed to be able to explore such an amazing city, a bed, shower and safe place to store my bags. Yes it could use some redecorating but it was still very clean, quite and the staff were very nice. The breakfast was typical of small European hotels, I had planned on eating at one of the many delicious cafes in the city every morning anyway, so the breakfast was perfect for a cup of coffee and some fruit to start the morning. If you want luxury, look elsewhere. If you just want a comfortable place to sleep, staying here will be more than perfect. Its a 5 minute walk from the train station, 15 minutes to the center of town. Which was fine with me because the walk there along the river was a view full of castles, mountains and beautiful architecture.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hotel Scherer is such a quaint and charming hotel to stay at in the cozy town of Salzburg. It is literally like a blast to the past; from the bright green chaise lounge in the sofa, to the clinking of fine glasses and muffled chattering of guests in the lobby restaurant, to the nearly out of place diner booth in the room, to the mini fridge that still requires a key to open, to the old school knobs to adjust the water temperature and pressure in the porcelain bathtub, to the wild carpet and vintage wallpaper designs, all make this hotel so unique. It definitely is far from the modern, neutral design hotels that seem to be the standard nowadays.. yet all of those tend to blur into one of the same and aren't very memorable.
In all honesty, I will say it doesn't have all the high tech bells & whistles but we really enjoyed our stay and I wouldn't want them to change their style. There is Wi-Fi (not the best I admit, but that's great! Go explore!), a TV (never used it), hot water, pleasant hotel staff, private parking (10 euro/day, cheaper than most), and a lovely breakfast in the morning with a very attentive waitress and good food options. As for location, it really isn't too far of a walk to the center of town. For the value, it is great considering quality/price/location. Overall, it is very traditional and charming, what I would imagine being at a grandmother's home back in the 80s or so.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A three star rating for the economical price at which rooms can be available and for the proximity to the train station and multiple city-bus stops. The advisory would be to not stay in the hotel for more than two nights due to extremely tiny rooms, shower and bathroom where even a single person cannot stand after stretching their arms and less space to stove luggage.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The room was very clean and the staff was really helpful and kind. The hotel and room look dated but nothing was broken or dirty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good price, but bad service. Refrigerator was broken and I had some drinks of my own so I complained about it as checking out, but was told that it's a mini bar service and the bar was open in the lobby... When I mentioned that refrigerator service was often provided in hotels, she kept repeating to pay and go. Ruined good experience of nice interior and such with reception staff ignoring your concerns.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DT: 20/NOV/2021
HOTEL IS GOOD, NEARLY LOCATED TO TRAIN/BUS STATION.
BUT EXPENSIVE COMPARE TO ITS CHAREGED TRAIFFS. I PAID 85 EUR INCL ALL TAXE FOR 1 NIGHT. ROOM WAS WAY SMALL THEN IT SHOULD BE, WITHOUT BREAKFAST. AND STAFF CHARING FOR JUST ICE CUBES (2 EUR) AND FOR DELIVERING TO YOUR ROOM (2 EUR). TOTAL 4 EUR.
WHICH BIG OR SMALL HOTEL STAFF CHARGE YOU FOR DELIVERING TO YOUR ROOM 2 EUR ? AND ALSO 2 EUR FOR JUST A ICE CUBES !! WHEN YOU STAYING AT 85 EUR/NIGHT HOTEL.
YOU WILL FIND MANY WAY GOOD HOTELS NEAR RIVER 500 MTRS FROM THIS HOTEL. WHICH ARE NEAR FOR ALL FAMOUS VISITING SPOTS.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friendly atmosphere and kind service. It is located near - 2 min walk - the main train station (Hbf), but in a quiet street. Close to bus lines too. Staff can speak more languages with no problem (English, Italian). They are very helpful. The room is nice and clean. We did not spend much time in the room, it was perfect for us.
