Both my wife and I were treated with a great deal of impatience to any questions we asked during our visit to their store during a recent vacation in Vienna. So, we stopped asking questions and walked around the store gathering up a couple of things to buy. When we went to the register to pay for them, this was the only shop among the many, many dozens we visited that insisted - rudely, I must add, that we show a picture ID before we could use our credit card. Unfortunately, with our travel documents safely locked up back in our hotel miles away, there was no way to prove we two senior citizens from the U.S. weren’t criminals bent on stealing credit cards and using them to buy Klimt souvenirs. I offered to sign my name on a piece of paper so they could compare it to the one on the back of my credit card, but was told that wouldn’t do because I could be faking the signature. I was about to offer them a look at a photo duplicate of my passport (I keep one with me for emergency situations) when they finally, albeit begrudgingly, let us make our purchase. Yeow, what an ordeal! Additionally, this store doesn’t carry a full line of Klimt merchandise - we found (and bought) several Klimt items they didn’t carry at various museums and shops throughout Vienna. And almost every item they DO carry can be found, sometimes less expensively, at other shops. A visit to Vienna is highly recommended - we had a fantastic vacation. This store was our only negative experience.
