A	Alexia B on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This Konditorei had been recommended to me by a Free Walking Tour-guide. Since there are so many (good!) coffee places in Vienna, I simply took his advice and went to this one. Make sure to walk all the way to the back of the shop (if you take the main entrance, that is), where you will see the 'diner-like' seats to settle yourself. I found that the shop was pleasantly busy - not crowded but there was some murmur around me (I feel the other customers were mostly Austrians sitting down for lunch or a business meeting, which was nice). I ordered one coffee and one cake (make sure to check beforehand in the vitrine which cake you want because there is no menu!) and sat down to read a book. The staff did not bother me, meaning you can really relax without feeling the pressure of having to order again which is so common in Western Europe. Lovely! The staff was kind as well, although their English was somewhat limited. We managed to work it out in the end though.

Today, on 21.02.2022, we visited Konditorei Sluka on Kärtnerstraße. We ordered some hot drinks and we were given some sugar sticks. We had 3 unused sticks, which we just threw in our bag. And then, one of the waiters, came up with an handful of sugar (at least 10 pieces) and defiantly threw them in our bag, which had the purchased shoes in it. He turned around and left. What the heck was that?! All the people sitting near us turned around at the noise. We were stunned by this rudeness! A place of this caliber should pay better attention to customer service.

It had a very relaxed atmosphere (we felt like we could stay hours without feeling under pressure to order extra things which was nice) with a really good menu - great selection of small cakes! The wait staff were excellent - very attentive, professional and friendly but don't bother you by checking in too much. There were lots of local Austrian people there too which is always nice to see . Everyone we spoke to spoke perfect english - at the table and even at the entrance when they were checking greenpasses/vaccinations. Theres a lovely conservatory area at the back of the restaurant and another great area, also at the back, with gorgeous red booths so definitely head to the back once you walk in. Very stylish Viennese cafe and just a very pretty building in itself. Our waiter Eric was particularly nice and spoke perfect english! Highly recommend a visit!
