I love to go there and just say a prayer at the entrance of the church the cross hanging to the right, and light a candle. the quire singers are great and you can get a cd, if you are a tourist just ask for a guided tour the restaurant has lovely food and remember the pope visited here some years ago and there is a small shop and you can study theology if you like :)

Went on a detour from Vienna on December, 20th. Initially we were worried about group visits only and at fixed times; on top of that ended up a few minutes late. Regardless, we were offered a tour without a hitch and it was literally just for four of us. Some might argue there's not that much to see but I say a hour-long tour and a little stroll around were ABSOLUTELY worth it. It is a beautiful place (likely even more so in summer), with rich history and peaceful yet very moving appearance. Extra info which may be useful for tourists: Restaurant on the site is also good so you may plan around having a meal there and I believe you may even stay there as a guest - if you have a car and had your share of Vienna sightseeing that's an option. We took an Uber from/to hotel in Vienna, it's a half an hour ride.

We went into the cathedral and you could breathe the history if these walls. Very extraordinary. The restaurant serves excellent food, service was exceptionally nice and fast??

Very interesting place and really beautiful Abbey. You can't go in on your own. You must wait for the group. There is a tour guide also in English. So better to make a phonecall in advance, in order you arrange it by the best for you way and avoid waist your time by waiting the group in your language...

Interesting tour led by a cistercian monk. We learned about history and daily life at the abbey, walked through key places and even got invited to join a prayer of the monks in a small chapel.

Founded in 1133, still today does the Christian prayer resound in this ancient place. There is no sign that this praise to God, the Creator of Heaven and earth, would cease with the still growing number of young monks in this place. It’s really a place of blessing and encounter of the risen and living Christ, saviour and lover of mankind!
