★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A mysterious story is told that on 30 January 1889 the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph collapsed when he heard the death news of the Crown Prince with his mistress Baroness Maria Vetsera in the hunting lodge at Mayerling, where they committed suicide.
That was a tragedy which the Royal family has confronted for decades.
The funeral of Crown Prince took place in Capuchin Church in Vienna, wherein there were totally 12 Austrian Kings and 8 Queens being buried during the Habsburg dynasty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The property, which has been owned by the monastery of Heiligenkreuz since 1550, was acquired by Crown Prince Rudolf in 1886 and converted into a hunting lodge. On the night of January 30, 1889, the Austro-Hungarian heir to the throne, Crown Prince Rudolf , died here together with his beloved Mary Vetsera . The circumstances are still unclear, since the Viennese court destroyed key documents and had oblige eyewitnesses to silence. According to the current state of research, the suffering from depression Rudolf first shot his lover, the almost 18-year-old baroness Vetsera; then he killed himself by a head shot.
