So konnte ich eine persönliche Lücke zu den Denkmälern in Wien schließen - das architektonisch Gelungenste ist es für mich nicht, aber wofür es steht ist bedeutsam! Thanks to an article in the Standard, I've now got to know this corner of the Schweizergarten! In this way I was able to close a personal gap to the monuments in Vienna - the most architecturally successful thing is not for me, but what it stands for is significant!
U	User Simmering on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Eine Schande (für wen eigentlich?), dass ich als Österreicher von der Existenz dieses Denkmals an so einer zentralen Stelle (Schweizer Garten Nähe Oberes Belvedere) bisher nichts gewusst habe. Mit ein Grund dafür ist sicher, dass bei der mehrere Meter hohen Säule mitten auf der Wiese nicht einmal eine Hinweistafel steht, worum es sich hierbei handelt (Stand: August 2018). Auch die massiven in den Boden eingelassenen Granittafeln mit Auszügen aus der Moskauer Deklaration, die in einiger Entfernung vom Denkmal angebracht sind, hätte ich nicht so ohne weiteres mit der Staatsgründung in Verbindung gebracht. Letztlich jedoch ein würdiger und bedeutender Ort, bei dem fünf Sterne gerechtfertigt erscheinen. It is a shame (for whom?) That I, as an Austrian, did not know anything about the existence of this monument in such a central location (Swiss garden near the Upper Belvedere). One of the reasons for this is that the column, several meters high, in the middle of the meadow doesn't even have a notice board stating what this is about (as of August 2018). Even the massive granite slabs embedded in the ground with extracts from the Moscow Declaration, which are attached some distance from the monument, would not have been so easily associated with the founding of the state. Ultimately, however, a dignified and significant place where five stars seem justified.

Oktober 1966 enthüllt und erinnert an den Beschluss des österreichischen Nationalrats (= erste Kammer unseres Parlaments) der immerwährenden Neutralität am 26. Oktober 1955. In der Wiese vor dem Denkmal befinden sich steinerne Schriftpulte mit fünf Artikeln der Unabhängigkeitserklärung vom 27. April 1945. The work of art with the awkward name Staatsgründungsdenkmal was unveiled on October 25, 1966 and commemorates the resolution of the Austrian National Council (= first chamber of our parliament) of perpetual neutrality on October 26, 1955. In the meadow in front of the monument there are stone writing desks with five Articles of the Declaration of Independence of April 27, 1945.
