am Dom- und Residenzplatz ist einer der
schönsten und ältesten Weihnachtsmärkte
der Welt. Etwas besonderes bieten die traditionellen Verkaufsstände. Der Markt bleibt heuer bis zum 09.01.2022 geöffnet. Für Besucher(innen) gilt die 2G Regel (Kontrolle mit einem Lichtbildausweis). Der Eintritt ist kostenlos.
Die regionalen Schmankerl muss man einfach probieren! Für meinen Geschmack zu teuer.
 The historic Salzburg Christmas market
at Dom- und Residenzplatz is one of the
most beautiful and oldest Christmas markets
of the world. The traditional stalls offer something special. This year the market will remain open until January 9th, 2022. The 2G rule applies to visitors (inspection with a photo ID). Entry is free.
You just have to try the regional delicacies! Too expensive for my taste.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not entirely sure why this is called the 2018 Christmas Market since the Fair takes place every year. My photos are from 2019. This is one of the leading European Christmas markets and one of the reasons so many people come to Salzburg in December. The merchandise on sale is of a surprisingly good quality - though quite why anyone would need so much Christmas stuff is a puzzle!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The market is spacious and contains a lot of spots with Christmas goods and food. This market is probably even bigger than all the markets in Vienna. The staff does not know the 2G rules though and you have to show them the official documents that explain the details. They also change the color of the bracelets every day and you have to queue for the bracelet again which does not make any sense to me. Also they don't accept the bracelet from the smaller market
