Der Turm war Bestandteil der Sicherungsanlagen des Donaulimes in der römischen Provinz Noricum – dem heutigen Oberösterreich.
Die Grundfeste dieses im 2. Jahrhundert erbauten Wachturms wurde erst 1936 entdeckt und 1991 ausgegraben und konserviert .
Wonderful and contemplative hike through the Kürnbergerwald. The Römerturm is reached via the Prinzensteig and a forest road high above the Danube.
The tower was part of the security systems of the Danube Limes in the Roman province of Noricum - today's Upper Austria.
The foundations of this watchtower, built in the 2nd century, were only discovered in 1936 and excavated and conserved in 1991.
