★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perhaps to draw inspiration from the birthplace of democracy, the Austrian Parliament building is inspired by Greek architecture ad motifs. Greek columns adorn on top by bronze quadrigas. The Greek goddess Athena stands in front of the building. Many statues and reliefs around the building are sculpted in Greek styles including statues of Greek scholars and statesmen. For a moment I had mistaken myself in Greece, but that has been the influence of the Greeks on democracy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ currently under reconstruction but they offer excellent guided tours in various parts of the city. In the temporary parliament which was the former dancing hall of the habsburg, on heros square and palais epstein. And the best part all tours are for free, ery well done by quite learned guys. Really enjoyed all the tours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Currently the Historic Building is closed for renovation. But they offer some amazing free tours on hero's square ( 90 min Democracy power places), and in the temporary Parlament which is the former dancing halls of the Habsburg monarchs ( 50 mins and after 1300 you also get to see the winter riding School). Highly recommended.

One of the beautiful buildings with very impressive old greek style architecture in Vienna. Roman influences inside the building.
The guided tour is very interesting and reasonably priced. Visit also during the night. The building is most impressive at night. A short walk from the Kertner Strasse and Opera.
Good place for photography. Allowed to take photos inside and outside.
Very recommended!
