The Parliament on the Viennese Ring, is a historic-style building, inspired by ancient Greek architecture. The facade is dominated by the statue of the goddess Athens.

A tour of the parliament is not only very valuable due to its contemporary history, but also interesting to experience one or the other politician up close and was very positively impressed. A visit will certainly be worthwhile even after the renovation.

Currently, the Hofburg is the official residence of the President of Austria and the seat of the government. The old building has been undergoing renovation since 2017 and it is hoped that the renovation will be completed by 2021. This is also a building where a library, an equestrian school, a treasury, I got to Parliament easily, they just wrote out a ticket at the reception, and enlightened things. Nobody even looked at the passport :) I waited for the time of the excursion and it turned out that I was the only participant. But this did not stop the guide and there was an individual conversation :) My guide's name was Ernesto. He is originally from Chile. The tour lasted an hour. Although, in fact, we saw only two halls. I was not hammered with dates and names. It was pretty easy communication. I didn't understand everything, but I always nodded my head and smiled :))) Further, a little chaotically about interesting things and what I remember. Ernesto said that the halls and the building where we were in 1992 were on fire. Of course, everyone says that the wiring problem did this. But still, even the guide himself says that this is unlikely. This can be seen in the photo of the burning building, since the fire is clearly not in all the windows. The building was extinguished in the same way as the North Dame de Paris. No one indiscriminately flooded it with water to preserve the integrity of the building itself. The renovation took about 5 years. In total, the Hofburg building survived 3 fires. I was also shown a comparison photo after the last one, where you can see what happened after the fire and what is now. The guide said there was a lot of controversy. What can you wish for? Restore historical designs or do something modern. As a result, the main hall was made in a modern style, and the adjacent baroque. Although if you look at it live it looks like this. Beautiful baroque hall, restored. But there are some metal MAFs in it for negotiations. All at once somehow enters into dissonance. Austria is now on the verge of early parliamentary elections. There are rather modest pillars on the streets. Height under 1.5 meters and with three tents of candidates. And nothing more. No spontaneous gluing, stretch marks, boards. Everything is civil. Today's prime minister is a woman of 70 years old. And she has already appeared in scandals somewhere. That's why the elections. There are 40% of women in government and the guide says that it is not enough :) The deputies have no microphones in the hall. And no voting buttons. If you are "for" you stand up and stand. "Against" - sit. "Abstained" - you leave. After that, a special officer counts the "votes". According to the guide, they do not trust the technique and therefore all meetings are hand-recorded! This is some kind of nonsense, to be honest :) The tribune for the performance can be resized to suit the height of the speaker. You just need to press a button and wait for the desired height. There is a red paw on the podium - a signal for the speaker about the end of the time limit. A window with information about the duration of the performance, which is usually given up to 3 minutes. The voting room is decorated with paintings by an Austrian artist. In addition, he wrote down his favorite phrases in some places. As for me, daub-daub :) and worked for 2 years :)) Paintings in the same style and not only on the walls, but also on the ceiling. Everything is bright red-orange. It seems that you can't sit in such a room for a long time. You just get tired of bright colors. We went to a cafe for parliamentarians. From there you can see a parade ground for horses from the window. And a special device, like a turnstile, that makes horses move and walk in a circle. By the way, the hall where we watched the performance of the equestrian ballet was the original hall for holding parliamentary sessions 200 years ago. I sat at the presidential chair :)
