Dazu ein "Konzert für Salzburg" und kleinere Veranstaltungen wie Kammermusik und eine moderne Kammeroper (Stand 2019.). Karten überwiegend im Abo, ziemlich teuer, selbst für Salzburger Verhältnisse exklusiv. Seit dem plötzlichen Rückzug der Berliner Philharmoniker (2012) wird das Festival von der Staatskapelle Dresden unter Christian Thielemann bestritten. Thielemann dirigiert die Oper und mindestens ein Konzert, den Rest übernehmen renommierte Gastdirigenten.
Founded in 1967 by Herbert von Karajan. Traditionally consisting of an opera premiere and three concerts, one of them with a sacred choral work, beginning on Saturday before Palm Sunday until Easter Monday in the Great Festival Hall. In addition a "Concert for Salzburg" and smaller events such as chamber music and a modern chamber opera (as of 2019.). Tickets mostly in the subscription, rather expensive, even for Salzburger conditions exclusive. Since the sudden withdrawal of the Berliner Philharmoniker (2012), the festival has been contested by the Staatskapelle Dresden under Christian Thielemann. Thielemann conducts the opera and at least one concert, the rest are performed by renowned guest conductors.
