Etwas oberhalb der Eppzirler Alm liegt die Marien-Kapelle, die in den Jahren 2006 bis 2007 von Freiwilligen großteils in Eigenregie errichtet worden ist. Im Jahre 1939 wurde auf der Eppzirler Alm und im Bereich der heutigen Kapelle mit dem Bau einer Kaserne zur Ausbildung von Gebirgsjägern der Gebirgskampfschule Mittenwald begonnen. Nach ca. vierjähriger Bauzeit wurde die Gebirgsausbildung im Jahre 1942 gestartet. Bei einem Lehrgang mittels einer Skitour zur Eppzirler Scharte kamen am 7.2.1945 insgesamt 18 Gebirgsjäger bei einem gewaltigen Lawinenabgang ums Leben. Nur drei Gebirgsjäger konnten sich selbst befreien. Ihnen zu Ehren wurde eine Gedenktafel im Frühjahr 2020 an der Kapelle angebracht. “Gedenktafel für die am 7.2.1945 von einer Lawine erfassten 18 Gebirgsjäger des Ausbildungsstützpunktes Eppzirler Alm.” Die Kaserne wurde nach dem 2. Weltkrieg im Jahre 1947 wieder geschleift.

A little above the Eppzirler Alm is the Marien Chapel, which was largely built by volunteers themselves between 2006 and 2007. In 1939, the construction of a barracks for the training of mountain hunters of the Mittenwald mountain combat school began on the Eppzirler Alm and in the area of today's chapel. After about four years of construction, the mountain training started in 1942. During a course by means of a ski tour to the Eppzirler Scharte, a total of 18 mountain hunters were killed in a massive avalanche on February 7, 1945. Only three mountaineers were able to free themselves. A memorial plaque was placed on the chapel in spring 2020 in their honor. “Memorial plaque for the 18 mountain hunters of the Eppzirler Alm training base who were hit by an avalanche on February 7th, 1945.” The barracks were razed again in 1947 after World War II.
