★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A large plaza just off the New Town area with St. Annes Column. It is across the street from the Casino.
I happened across the area since the lights from the Christmas tree got my attention. There is a large monument in the center of the square, the befreiungsdenkmal. It looks like it is a war monument. The plaza is quite large with a few things to see. There is also a parking entrance by the Casino side. I stopped by at night but would have been nice to also see it during the day to get a better view of the monument.
