Since the start of coronavirus, including now the lockdown, students in the dorm are constantly making parties in large groups of people.

Convenient place for JKU students! The room has good light, a nice view and enough space! The restaurant of the residence is amazing! Accesible prices and really good food!! Totally recommend

Sometimes quite loud and nothing is done about it until you call the porter yourself. Cleaning women come irregular and not nearly as often as they should. And they often come into your room without knocking on the door, even if you have locked the door. Waste separation is non existent. If you want to separate you have to go outside the building for the nearest containers. People in the hostel administration are not very friendly. Common kitchens are very dirty and common rooms are cold and have an unfriendly atmosphere.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in a double room with a small bathroom and kitchenette for 5 months. The rooms resemble the ones of a hospital, and we had to change the first one because it had a really strong smell and you could not breathe properly inside of it. The second room was maybe worse because it was really badly isolated and during winter there was a lot of draft that you could even hear when it was windy outside. Because of it I had a conjunctivitis that stayed months and healed just after we moved out. The place is noisy during night if you have a view to the parking place. Some of the staff is not that friendly to say the least. One of the two stars is for the nice receptionists and the cleaning lady that cleaned our room every two weeks. On short, I would not recommend this place if you have another option.

I chose to live here during my studies, it's a nice location, close to JKU. However, I was quite upset with what I paid for for a number of reasons. 1) You have to pay a cleaning fee, as maids will come and clean your room and change the sheets every two weeks. But these maids are constantly on the phone, and always skipping over rooms. When they don't, they do a poor job. At first I ignored it because it is a long job cleaning rooms and it's easy to skip over one every once and awhile, but mine had been skipped over on four seperate ocassions. In the event that you do inform a receptionist of this, the maid will get angry with you and proceed to tell you how rude you were for not coming to her first, when they're either almost impossible to find, or you can find them talking on the phone. 2) You may be stuck with a common kitchen, which can get pretty gross just from the students using it and not cleaning up after themselves, however, it was noticed that the bottom of the fridge is covered in an unidentifiable sludge from months and months of people spilling things in their fridge, and it's obvious it's never cleaned. In order to clean it, you would need to take it apart, which is something the residents cannot do.(pictured) In addition to this, they also fail to clean out old residents belongings if they haven't. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a fridge full of moldy food. Not to mention, the fridge runs at a weird temperature, causing a weird humidity that leaves water all over your belongings. If you get lucky and have your own kitchen, expect your room to smell weird, no matter how hard you try. 3) Only some of the hotel receptionist seem to be willing to help you. I can recall a few times where they would be very rude towards me (I was still learning German at the time,) and not talk to me in English when I couldn't formulate the sentence properly in German. The younger one however, is really nice. 4) You can do your laundry here! You pay €1 per load with strictly .50 coins, which isn't too bad, but the chances of finding a working or open washer are very slim as they only have 5 in this massive building full of students. I believe only two are currently working. In addition, don't waste your money to dry your clothing, because the dryers will only make them warm and damp. 5) The bed and pillow they provide are significantly below average. The pillow is as if someone took a pillow case and stuck 2 small bags of cotton balls in it. I've slept on floors more comfortable than the bed. This would be wonderful for a one night stay. 6)Besides the main lobby, it's pretty outdated. It's poorly ventilated in the summer since they have no air conditioning, and the radiator barely works in the winter. None of the windows have screens, so expect a billion bugs to come into your room if you decide to open the window to try and cool down during the summer. 7) The internet is really bad here. They don't let students use the wifi besides the first few days of them moving in. You usually will have to log back in every 10-15 minutes until you've extended your "allowance". They allow you to borrow an Ethernet cable, but even with that it does not provide an ideal internet connection for students. Other than that, this place is okay. I wouldn't stay here more than 3 days though. The restaurant downstairs is really good for the prices you pay, especially around lunch time and the people who work there are sweet. After seeing how they treat the cleaning of the fridges in the common kitchens I'm concerned on how often they deeply clean their own kitchen. They also don't accept anything other than cash, which I find odd.

The Julius-Raab-Heim is ideally suited for JKU students. The distance to the university of 10 minutes is very advantageous, the rooms are of adequate size, internet access is available in every room and the cafeteria on the first floor offers a convincing and affordable menu. In times of online lectures, noise disturbance from other residents may occur, but this is to be expected in a student residence. In summary, it is recommendable, especially in relation to the rental costs.

Overpriced for what you get. No gym access, not enough laundry machine for residents, no towels, and no access to a communal kitchen. For what we pay, I would expect staff to be nicer. The lady at the residence office goes out of her way to be rude.

I lived here for a couple of months. It's a very calm and clean dormitory to live especially for all those working or studying in Johannes Kepler University Linz. You can find here single room, double bed room and two rooms apartments. They have laundry room in the dormitory. The staff is very cooperative. Though a bit expensive compared to Wist. If you have good budget so will love this place to live and enjoy.
