This is one outlet of the HOFER chain, supermarkets positioned somewhere between the premium priced stores such as SPAR and MERKUR, and discounters such as LIDL. The price-concious shopper sticking to house-brands and no-name products should find most of what he or she is looking for.

Great shopping experience. I'm visiting Vienna, Austria from Ireland and the experience is top notch. It's like Aldi away from home.

1 stars is unfair because the produce and the pricing is 5 star but the end transaction, cash register- loading your shopping on a 3 meter belt and then for it to be pushed of the end of a 30cm place is less than expectable! Comfort of the customer, No! Assistance for the customer? No! As the customer we are doing all the work! Loading it out of trolley and reloading. The cashier pushes product no more that 30-40cm!!! Feeling like, we have your money, know move your stuff and get out!! Really a big shame this is execepted, it is the reason why I don't shop there more often.

Aldi (stylised as ALDI) is the common brand of two German discount supermarket chains with over 10,000 stores in 20 countries, and an estimated combined turnover of more than €50 billion.[1][5][6] Based in Germany, the chain was founded by brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht in 1946 when they took over their mother's store in Essen, which had been in operation since 1913. The business was split into two separate groups in 1960, that later became Aldi Nord, headquartered in Essen, and Aldi Süd, headquartered in Mülheim.[7][8] In 1962, they introduced the name Aldi (a syllabic abbreviation for Albrecht Diskont),[9] which is pronounced [ˈaldiː] (About this sound listen). In Germany, Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd have been financially and legally separate since 1966, although both divisions' names may appear as if they were a single enterprise with certain store brands or when negotiating with contractor companies. The formal business name is Aldi Einkauf GmbH & Compagnie, oHG

Hofer is one of the better supermarkets in Austria. The price-quality balance is fair and so far, I only had good experiences with its employees. Hofer could still improve in sustainability, though.
