Gasthof Gosausee - Gosauseestraße 152

A must see place, only when the weather is nice. Even for a picnic, very beautiful

A recent holiday to the Hills, Valley's, and Mountain's of Austria, found the Chef and myself looking for the Dachstein Glacier. As with most trips a slight wrong turn due to a delayed Siri, sent us to Gosausee Lake. My God what a mistake to make.....The best mistake I can say I have ever made. I can only imagine that Shangri-La, and Nirvana have a vista like this. The view up the lake towards the Dachstein Glazer is one I will never forget. Stunning, Jaw Dropping and any other Adjective you wish to use. Our plans for that day changed immediately, and we sat at Gasthof Gosausee to have breakfast and Plan a hike around the lake. We were served by the larger than life proprietor, who's sense of humor was of stark contrast to the normal reserved Austrian approach to life.... He almost filled the space he was in...Great Breakfast and Coffee, was followed by an anti clockwise walk around the Lake. This was about 10 km and took us the bones of 2.5 hours, stopping to take photos along the way. The walk was glorious. Literally in Nature..Waterfalls Streams, Forrest, and of course the crystal clear lake...All fellow walkers visibly lost in there own head space.. No worries, No Covid a completely Cathartic experience. FREEDOM! Our walk ended with a well earned Ice Cream, in the small shop in front of Gasthof Gosausee.. This Ice Cream Shop deserves it's own 5 star review... If you are in this beautyfull region Just go to Gasthof Gosauee/Lake Gosausee.. you will not regret you decision or in our case our mistake..Enjoy!

Great service, very patient and with good english. The portions were rather large, not too expensive and the GOULASH was amazing!

The view is breathtaking! It's a perfect place for weary hikers. The food is tasty, portions are huge and prices reasonable. Our server was constantly smiling and very helpful. We enjoyed it so much, that we ate there twice.

Worse service I ever had. We ordered a Cesar salad to go and a coke. The coke was without gas at all, I asked to replace it they refused. I insisted that they will than take the coke back because its not drinkable. The Cesar salad was ok, but they served it a small plastic forks, probably used to be for ice cream or something. Never again!

Great atmosphere, great service and great food. Prices are very good as well especially for such a location. Perfect for ending your hike and watching over the lake and glacier.

Fantastic 4 nights with family and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was great, very friendly staff and room was always at the right temperature. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the gasthof for two nights mid-October, we had the best stay we could ever imagine! the rooms are cozy, beds are comfortable and showers are big and clean. the view is breathtaking ! breakfast is insanely good and fresh and anything in the restaurant is tasty ( we ate there so much those days ) the team is sweet and caring they made us feel very welcomed
