Nice establishment, friendly staff,ok food but an bit pricey, however please consider that it's a very authentic medival style restaurant and therefore I think the prices are reasonable.

Poor selection of beers and unfriendly service. I ordered a Dunkel and was brought a Helles. Had to argue with the waiter several times before he finally brought the correct beer. Did not try the food but it didn't look promising. I would say this is a classic tourist trap. The fact that it's the only place on the hill in the castle means you either need to walk back down or take the funicular if you want something else. Take the time to go back down and you'll find plenty of great options.

I don’t mind waiting in a good and full restaurant but waiting for 35 minutes without being even noticed in a half empty place is a total failure. Waited a bit longer and left. Definitely NOT recommended.

The worst place to eat! Quality of food doesn't correspond to the price. They don't write the ingridients of the dishes in the menu, so be careful - they put onions everywhere, even to the meals where one would never expect onions (ex. gnocchi). They also use too much oil while cooking, so the meal you'll get will be surely all soaked in it (see the picture).

Location: strategic, right at the exit when you come out of the fortress. Food: not bad. We ordered chocolate with rum (5/5), fish(3/5, because we didn’t expect we were getting a fish fillet instead of a whole fresh fish), gnocchi( 3/5, not the usual gnocchi that we know, it looks more like the German spaetzle), spare ribs(3/5, portion is okay, but the taste wasn’t really great, i have only tried the “Ribs of Vienna” in Vienna so far, so if i compare between these two restaurants’ ribs, definitely the “Ribs of Vienna” is better), Sachertorte is very much better than the Café central one i would say. So recommendation: 1. sachertorte. 2. Gnocchi.

May be we didnt ordered drink so we didnt think that it is expansive . The ribs with fries cost about 14 EUR. May be its reasonable price??!! I dont know haha but the food tasted good. Dont know why so many people dislike there!

I loved the goulash beef soup and the pretzel. In time to pay, I tried to get the attention of the waiter. Me: Nicely and shyly put my hands up to grab the waiter's attention. Waiter: He said "Un Momento" and he looks at me annoyed and pointed at his little mobile ordering machine and said, "I'm working". Right at this time, I have no respect for the dude who served me. Please don't give people attitude even when you're really busy. Learn some customer service class before working at anywhere near the Fortress. You're ruining the image of the castle.

After walk and visit the fortress I decided to have a piece of cake and mulled wine ... they didn’t serve that not sure why maybe out of season but instead I had hot chocolate with rum and Mozart’s coffee. The coffee was good the chocolate to watery for my taste . The cake was nice. The service was fast and polite The place is amazing decorated like in the medieval times so you feel like princess inside there. Even the waiter and waitress have special costumes to serve the tables. Already eating otherwise will try their burgers we’re looking very tasty. Prices a bit expensive
