Spectacular tour!! John is the perfect guide and host. Our family had a wonderful day as we felt like we were retracing the Von Trapp’s steps. He hits all the highlights and has a very good historical knowledge of the story and the culture surrounding Salzburg. This is far more than a Von Trapp tour, you get a cultural history of the area as well. It’s a unique experience that you will not get with any other tour. You experience the city as well as countryside with the ease of the e-bikes. An added benefit is that English is John’s first language so communication was easy. Looking forward to getting back someday and John will be one of our first calls!!

Fantastic tour with the most well researched Sound of Music information you could imagine. Whether you are a huge fan of the movie or just want to see Salzburg’s most beautiful sites, you should not miss this tour. John is very knowledgeable about Salzburg and the movie sites that no other tour has. He is very friendly and will keep you entertained. He is very engaging and fun to be around. You’ll feel like you’ve know him your whole life.

John was great host and ambassador for The Sound of Music and the city of Salzburg. We enjoyed biking through the beauty of the area and hearing John’s stories about the movie. We would definitely do this tour again!

This tour was amazing! We ended up walking around because of the time of year instead of the bikes, but we still were able to see all the things on the tour! John was an amazing guide and seemed really knowledgeable about everything, I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested!

The tour didn’t get off to the start that John was expecting when Kaz and I told him we hadn’t actually seen the whole of the Sound of Music. Once he’d got over that news, he was into his stride and was an engaging host. Despite us not truly appreciating all the tour highlights around Salzburg tied around the film, due of course to our ignorance, his enthusiastic commentary captivated us to a point where we completely forgot the time and ended getting back in the dark. We shared many laughs and stories, and found we had a common interest in comedy and music. This made our trip to the lovely city a truly memorable experience. We loved it, and after being inspired to finally watch the whole film would definitely join his tour again.

This six hour tour goes by really quickly, because John gives it in a very fun and interesting way! He showed us all the most interesting and beautiful places in Salzburg that I would never find on my own, and he relates them to the sound of music and Trapp family story! It is more like a film class than a cheesy sound of music tour just for mass tourism. He keeps the group size small, which gives it a more personalized touch. I could feel that he really cares about everybody and wants them to learn a lot. Thanks John ?

Salzburg is stunningly beautiful and charming, but you may miss the best parts unless you do something like this. Getting on your bike and getting off the beaten track, (with the expert guidance of John - a local) meant that we could experience parts of the town that most people miss. Just between you and me, you don’t need to be a huge fan of The Sound of Music to love this tour. The film locations we visited were a fantastic excuse to capture the essence of the city and the surrounding countryside. I’d recommend this tour to anyone. John is clearly passionate about what he does and this comes out in his love and enthusiasm for Salzburg. You can’t help but share in the joy of the place with him.

John’s knowledge of Salzburg is incredibly detailed and informative, especially when it comes to the filming of the Sound of Music. Before taking the tour, I had not remembered much of what I had seen of the movie. However, John’s whimsically unique story-telling ability was all that I needed (and then some) to remember not only how great the movie was, but it also allowed me to become fascinated by the backstory of the actual Trapp family in real life. Definitely a worthwhile experience!
