★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Donnerbrunnen fountain, sitting in the middle of Neuer Market Square, the parking lot next to Kärntner-strasse. I took this street everyday while in Vienna to cut through from Kärntner-strasse back towards The Guesthouse Vienna. Along the way, on the square is the Imperial Crypt under the Capuchin Church.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful fountain from the 18 centuary. For photographers the evening light gives excellent opportunities. Get off U1 U-Bahn at At Stephansplatz and walk down Kartnerstraße a short distance and take a right and left there is the fountain. If you need the U1 to get back to you hotel then continue down Kartnerstraße and Karlsplatz U1 is at the bottom. Enjoy

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Donnerbrunnen (Providentia Fountain) can be found in the centre of Neumarkt in the city centre of Vienna. This elegantly designed fountain was created by Austrian sculptor Georg Raphael Doner in 1737.
The fountain is highlighted by a centre statue of Providentia, who was believed to forecast adequate ad ample supply of water to the city of Vienna. The smaller figures below Providentia as well as he life-size adult figures placed around the fountain basin represent the various rivers of Austria. It is an attractive and interesting sculptural composition of figures.
During our recent visit to Vienna, we were able enjoy seeing Donnerbrunnen with a thin layer of snow, making for an elegant scene and view of the fountain. As expected, the fountain was not operational during the cold late winter visit.
