Great deal and very friendly and competent advice. I bought the alpha glasses and although the glass is so thin, they are very robust. An eye-catcher that is admired every time in my shop.

Historical Manufactures in Vienna XI / Headquarters of the Hofglaswarenhändler Josef and Ludwig Lobmeyr, founded in 1844. They supplied crystal chandeliers for the Hofburg, for the Schönbrunn Palace and the Bavarian royal castles. In 1882, the Redoutensäle were equipped with the first electric chandeliers in the world. The company survived the Second World War relatively unscathed, in the post-war period, orders for the chandeliers and candlesticks in the Vienna State Opera, the Theater in Luxembourg, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, for the Saudi royal court and the Sultan of Brunei were obtained. One Lobmeyr glass goes through four quality controls right through to sales, the last one being a family member: it's the small, subtle differences that make up Lobmeyr glasses and delight Lobmeyr fans around the world. "Glass is a fascinating, sophisticated material," says Leonid Rath. He leads the Viennese company in the sixth generation, together with his cousins Andreas and Johannes Rath.

Gorgeous and expensive crystal products and lovely staff members. Majd showed us around and explained the manufacturing process of all the items I was curious about. They also have a free little museum of their products on the 3rd floor.

Founded in 1823 and still family owned, Lobmeyr is one of the world’s premier glassware makers, noted especially for its lighting and tableware designs. It has been an official purveyor to many royal families in Europe. The beautiful shop is as much a museum to the art of glass-making and fine crystal as a place where you can buy pieces designed by famous and young designers alike.
