★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very unfriendly woman at the reception and mediocre rooms for that price. I would suggest walking five minutes further to the little guesthouses; lovely people, atmosphere, views and food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ we went there after a full day at the sylvenstein lake. you don't have to pay for toll after 6 pm and the drive to the end of the valley is gorgeous. the restaurant had the best deer rost I have ever eaten. the view up the steep mountains is breathtaking, while enjoying dinner.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice place to stay during a hike. It's got everything a hiker would need for an overnight stay. I don't give it full star review since I find it a bit pricey and it's not that nice that for the price you get a really mediocre juice for breakfast. Also, they have WiFi, but the mobile connection is better than their WiFi.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The employees were very nice and friendly. The whole hotel was clean and in modern looking. The food especially the "Karwendel"-cake was delicious. The sauna was perfect to relax after a long hiking tour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Did a stop here during my bike ride. I had Kaiserschmarrn, the portion was bigger than I expected and taste was great. Staffs were friendly and quite relaxed. The view from the terrace was also beautiful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Only rating the restaurant / café: I've had several dishes here like Apfelstrudel, Kaiserschmarrn, special eng schnitzel with filling, and Spaetzle. Quality was just ok, prices are higher than average. Staff was friendly, service was quite slow even with few guests around. The view on the valley is definitely beautiful though.

Prices were way too high, interior outdated, the meat somewhat acceptable and our two portions of Kaiserschmarrn both sticky, not thoroughly baked and as expensive as the rest. The landscape is astonishing, but this restaurant is anything but.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to have dinner. Very friendly service & hotel staff. The best place you can stay in Engalm. Not that romantic as the other huts, but way more quiet - you are not being awaken from house shaking when cows pass by :) We enjoyed sauna a lot after 18km hike. Agree with other guests, some parts are a bit older, but still great value for money. Some breakfast items were not fresh... like juice and vegetables... but bread was great and coffee ok. 5 stars for overall experience
