It is certainly very beautiful on Kahlenberg. It is apparently trying to convince the visitors that the relieving of Vienna during the Turkish siege in 1683 happened from here. That's not true, because the relief came from Leopoldsberg. Unfortunately, this system can be degenerated. The truth should be the truth - you already do a nice business on the Kahlenberg, you do not have to falsify the story.

Wall mosaic under the name "Battle of Kahlenberg" referring to the events of 1683, ie the sieve of Vienna. The artistic message has little to do with the historical events of this period. It is rather a free interpretation of the military event near Vienna. The artist from the socialist realism movement does not refer to the participation of King Jan III Sobieski, hussars and allied forces in the Battle of Vienna. Essentially military elements are more like a Swedish invasion of Vienna than a victorious battle with 17th-century osmanans. Very good location of artistic work of a very mediocre level. "Vedimus, Venimus, Deus Vicit" these words should someday be made public in this place.

The battle at Kahlenberg From there, in the night of September 7th to 8th, 1683 (the Turkish siege under Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa had already lasted 56 days), flares rose and signaled to the Viennese that the 75,000-strong relief army was approaching. The Battle of Kahlenberg was decided by King Jan Sobieski's Polish tank riders and prevented the Turkish occupation of Vienna for the second time, which had already failed 154 years earlier under Sultan Suleyman I in 1529.

The Battle of Kahlenberg on September 12, 1683 ended the Second Vienna Turkish siege. A German-Polish relief army under the leadership of the Polish King Johann III. Sobieski beat the Ottoman army. The defeat marked the beginning of the end of Turkish hegemony. On the Christian side, the united infantry and artillery of the Alliance fought out of Austria, Saxony, Bavaria, Baden and the Papal States as well as the Polish equestrian army. Opposite stood the Vienna besieging Ottoman army.
