★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This memorial for the over 60.000 Austrian Jews murdered by the Nazis and their helpers displays the names of each and every victim, most of whom have no proper graves. Amongst them are my grandparents who were deported to Minsk, taken to a forest a few kilometers outside the city, a place called Maly Trostinec, and shot dead together with approximately 1000 others In the same transport. This memorial close to the center of Vienna finally commemorates them. By putting their names in writing they are no longer simply a number in the statistics of horror. With their names, their individuality is given back to them.
