★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1.5h Stop on my way to Brno / CZ. Googled a Kaffeehaus Vienna Style within walking distance. I am sick of corporate design coffee chains and was looking for an authentic place to experience this famous part of Vienna hospitality culture. Warm welcome at the entrance in German and English. After the paper work (COVID certificate check) the waiter brought me my order which was just coffee but Vienna style: "grosser Schwarzer", which is a Mocca Style coffee stretched with hot water. It was very delicious and I felt very comfortable in this historical gem. Apparently they do also have a decent lunch menu as well. I might be back soon!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We tried potatoes with avocado salad and fried salmon, which was a limited offer or something. It cost 9,90 euro and the size of the portion was impressing. It was very tasty, too.
The waitress was super nice, smiling all the time.
The interior is also very interesting and authentic, this is an old place with history.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food here is fine, nothing fantastic but decent. The service though... I was waiting for a long time for someone to get my order (the cafe was about 70% empty), and finally a waitress came. After waiting another 20 minutes, another waitress came. After I said I’d already ordered, she insisted on having me order again. Finally the food came, but the omelette wasn’t the one I’d ordered... Then I ordered a ham/cheese toast which, on a busy day, should take 4-5 minutes to make. I waited literally another 20+ minutes until they brought it out. In the end, I was billed for the wrong omelette, having come to the front to pay, as nobody came to me with a check. After the waitress insistently asked whether I’d like to tip, she was surprised and angry at the fact that I didn’t want to. Honestly, with all my respect to the food service industry, this is probably the 1st time in my life that I didn’t feel a tip was in order... What a shame, because the place itself is quite ok.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great cakes, super friendly staff and good coffee! Cafe Goldegg is one of those old Viennese coffee houses where you can experience cafe in the olden days. The cafe is well decorated and the menu offers enough choices to make most people content.
