★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Auf Grund der archäologischen Grabungen von 2006 bis 2009 nimmt man an, dass die Burg um 1200 errichtet wurde. 1285 wird sie erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Wagrain gehörte den Herren von Goldegg, die es als Lehen des Salzburger Erzbistums hielten.
 Based on the archaeological excavations from 2006 to 2009, it is assumed that the castle was built around 1200. It was first mentioned in a document in 1285. Wagrain belonged to the Lords of Goldegg, who held it as a fiefdom of the Salzburg Archdiocese.
