Good God I cannot believe this man is still in business!!! We have read other reviews. We had a Horrendous experience in this cafe. Please read full story. UNFORTUNATELY my husband and I visited the cafe on Ist May at approx 16.45. they told us they closed at 5pm .That was not a problem, The older male person serving was the rudest, most ignorant person ever. We sat outside I had got a croissant, waiter brought out coffee no milk or sugar. The Older male came out shouting they were closing, repeated it no of times to us and argued in German with other customers. He cleared everything away and we were left standing. I took a photo of the shop front to show to our travel guide because he was so rude. With that he accused me of taking photo of him, (photo taken at 16.58) He tried to SNAP my phone and was up in my face and PHYSICALLY pushed me into a corner, HE SAID HE WAS CALLING THE POLICE (he appeared to dial a no) that it was against the law in Austria and a fine of €150. I told him I had a heart complaint and not to harass me that we would stay and face the police. REPLY 'he did not care'. (We are a retired couple). He then started at my husband and called him a 'Brixiteer and went on and on about Maggie Thatcher. We are Irish. HE KEPT US THERE FOR 10-15 MINS AND THEN SAID WE MAY GO. When we were leaving he took very close up photos of us, and went back into shop and had a great laugh with staff at what had happened. As we were leaving Salzburg the following day, we did not report it to the police also because we were in a foreign country, didn't speak the language we felt very venerable also he had 2 members of staff outside as witness, several people were watching no one came to our assistance.

This bakery is NOT recommended. The owner was extremely rude and mean! We wanted to try a schnitzel sandwich which was on display and asked the boss how much it was. The boss replied, "It's 3+€. Is it cheap enough?" We thought we heard him wrong and asked what he meant. He repeated 3 times whether it was cheap enough! He was really rude. Although, the price was listed among many other items. Isn't it reasonable for customers to ask how much something is, especially the language used is not his mother language, before buying something? Asking for the price means someone is stingy? What about those on budget travel? This rude owner is ruining his own business.

Horrendously rude owner, told us to leave in front of customers. Gesturing at the door because we had ordered coffee to go.. We also ordered food which we wanted to eat inside and then take our coffee away, as it was raining outside. But the rude guy raised his voice and gestured towards the door. If I had have known before I went there, I would not have gone there. He is seemingly rude to foreigners (I guess he never expects to be a foreigner himself by never travelling). A xenophobic power tripper. Coffee was average, biscuit was nice.

Good cakes & tea for a break, and we managed to sit in the only table at the window.

I had an apfelstrudel and a croissant here, those were lovely. Staff friendly too. Recommend!

They try to scam you and steal your money! AVOID THIS PLACE! Before entering this bakery, I went to the ATM next door (Raiffeisen Bank) and withdrew some cash. The ATM also gave me some 10 € bills (seeing is believing). So I walked into the bakery and asked for a pretzel. I paid with my € 10 banknote, and the saleswoman gave me change as if I had given her a € 5 banknote. At that point, thinking it was a simple mistake, I politely pointed out the problem, but she started denying it and saying that I only gave her € 5, and she also started laughing in my face. To be more precise, I told her: I couldn't give you € 5, as I had just collected the 10€ banknotes from the ATM next door. Meanwhile, the owner arrived and started yelling at me that ALL ATMs IN THE WORLD only give out € 50 or €100 banknotes, while the horrible shop assistant laughed. They are hideous people, and I hope the shop closes as soon as possible because it casts a sinister shadow over the whole city. I left the pretzel there and walked out - leaving my money there too - and just because I didn't want to spend all day in the police station, I didn't report them. Now that I have read the hideous reviews of this horrible place, I feel less alone, as it seems clear that mistreating customers, trying to steal more money from them and being racist, coarse is their usual conduct. I wonder why people who are so dishonest are allowed to work with the public.

The food we bought was quite unhygienic and the employees here were very arrogant. They know that tourists have no time to fight for such behavior. Language needs a big improvement with usage of some polite words. Harsh tone and blunt responses, or telling an aged customer to get out faster in a rude tone is off limits.

Just walked past this place as I was heading into the Old Town of Salzburg for some sightseeing. There's a reasonable selection of baked goods, pastries and of course coffee. I was in a bit of a rush and just god pretzel and cappuccino to go. The services was friendly and efficient, the food okay and the coffee good. Nothing really good or bad about the place, it was just somewhere to grab a light snack and coffee.
