★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful spot in the middle of nowhere. Although we were not traditional visitors, as most people are coming to ride ski-alps on the nearby Dachstein gletcher. We were just passing by, we did a circular 2-day trek from Hallstatt. Weather turned bad so we enjoyed the night in da house. Approximately 20 - 28 EUR/night/person. Reasonable prices in the restaurant, but we didn't like the food much. We did like the staff though :-)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We got married here! The staff were more like family by the time we left. They made us this beautiful wedding cake, made my bouquet of flowers from the mountain foliage, and trekked champagne to the spot we choose to exchange our vows. The honeymoon suite was adorable. The whole house is immaculately maintained. And, ooooh the food... Delicious! Priced so affordably that you cannot believe it's real. I call it roughing it the glamorous way. Water is rain and powered by solar. Check into facilities to make sure you can handle how they conserve as it made affect some travelers. Personally, sink baths and dry shampoo worked for me, as you can only use showers if your stay is at least 3 days. A small consideration. The views and hiking... Beyond words. This my dream to go back soon. ❤️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome place to stay. Friendly staff, amazing food, I liked the look how everything is decorated. They don't have a water or power connection to the system, that's why they are trying to save as much water and electricity as possible. Two friendly dogs await you there.
There are two main ways to get there, one from Hallstatt one from Obertraun. Hallstatt Route ist challenging and takes about 4h to get there. Obertraun Route Starts at the end of the krippenstein Bahn (you have to pay to get to the 3rd end of the lift), stays relatively flat and takes about 2 hours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is run like a hotel and the Staff is super friendly! We got to it after a long hike down from Guttenberg hut, on a cold and wet day; we were immediately "at home" thanx to the whole Haus being nicely heated (not the case in the other more spartan historical Dachstein huts), a wonderful wholesome meal cooked by Renate and a very interesting exchange with Alois who knows the whole of the Dachstein backwards.
