★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This trail surpassed all of our expectations. Challenging enough to get your heart pumping. Easy enough for kids. Lots of little resting places and sound of music themed games for kids along the way... And what a view!!!. Very magical. Especially for SOM fans.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stiff road lead to a paradise spot, most pictureous lunch spot in europe, just 45 mins from Salzburg, carefull while driving, the road way up can fit only one car at a time. Respect the nature and don’t make it dirty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have no interest in the Sound of Music film but we still did this and totally loved it. It is a steep walk in places but there are plenty of points of interest where you can rest and take advantage of the view. Your views of the surrounding mountains is of course weather dependent, but they are lovely even in the low cloud and light rain we experienced. The sight of Hohenwerfen Castle on the neighbouring peak is wonderful. Whether you're a film history buff, a walker or adventurer... do it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you have been to the area (Werfen village or ice cave) then it's worth a visit. Even without the fanfare of the movie, this place has one of the greatest view of the mountains I have ever seen. It's very scenic. Be aware though that you will be climbing (driving) up a very narrow and steep road.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A fun hike up a well maintained trail into the field where they filmed. The seating area was comfortable and they had small interactive stations. Received a metal for posting on Instagram and souvenirs are available. The view is everything! The range of alps is beyond beautiful.
