The Synagogue dates 1826 and is still standing on the same spot. You can see the inside only by taking a tour that takes place once a day during the weekdays.

We came from Miami to see this temple. Our friend, who was with us, was married here. My 79 yo father truly enjoys making donations to temples and wanted to donate $1000. The nasty, combative security guard would not let us in. There was even a sign saying the book store was open. Unfortunately, this attitude does nothing productive or positive for our Jewish way. What a shame!

Old synagogue in central Vienna. It seems to be open at quite random times and the staff at the adjacent building are not exactly helpful. I can only suggest that you try a visit. Fortunately it’s not off the beaten track so you don’t need to waste time on the journey. It is for example very close to the beautiful mechanical clock which should be viewed at midday if possible.

I think it's a little bit strange to get asked to rate a synagogue but OK... It is a great place, the architecture is amazing, there is a fantastic choir and I love to go there for the services. The history is also very interesting

We were extremely lucky as this synagogue is only open to the public one day per year (this year it was Sunday October 7, 2018). This synagogue was built in 1824-1826 and was the only synagogue to survive the Nazis in Vienna (93 other synagogues and Jewish prayer-houses were destroyed). Besides the main hall other rooms were open with exhibits on this lucky day. All the guides were quite helpful. It was a fantastic experience - hearing all the stories in this environment. Very moving. I would highly recommend this visit. Tickets were available outside. You will have to find the 2019 date.

3 stars because it feels wrong to fully judge because i unfortunately went at the wrong time. please note as you plan your trip: they only allow visitors once a week!! currently it’s Thursdays at 10 (i’m not sure if/when that’ll change). the exterior is beautiful though! wish i could’ve seen the inside

The Stadttempel is a beautiful sight you need to visit in Vienna. They offer daily tours in English and other languages and the tours are worth visiting! Make sure you bring your passport and arrive a bit early because of security. The tour is insightful and well done by young guides that bring an authentic amazing feeling.
