★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the oldest church in Vienna and tourists should definitely come here! The building itself looks unremarkable but it is in a beautiful corner of the first district where most tourists don't come (it's actually surrounded by countless of bars that are primarily frequented by Austrians). It's on a "hill" looking down towards the Danube channel. More people should come here.
Good for: Tourists who are walking around the first district and are interested in religious history.
Bad for: People who think history/churches are boring.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very beautiful church in the city, from which you can take a walk to from the cathedral. But the inside dont seem to look like the old outside and is a bit more modern.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was the first stop for us on a tour of Vienna that included the “old town” district of the city. If I am not mistaken, it is the oldest church in the city, and also one of the older buildings. In this respect, while the exterior and interior may seem spartan, the age of the building and its place in history make it notable, and there is more to appreciate than meets the eye. Definitely worth a stop!
*This was the first time I had seen the entire dead body of a Saint preserved in a reliquary! A bit off-putting, but this is worth it for the shock value alone! Further, for me at least, this very much articulated, in a way that reading about it does not, how the concerns of daily life were quite different than today and how religion and faith were more deeply entangled in all aspects of daily life.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ St. Expert's Church is thought to the oldest in Vienna. The church bells date from around 1280. Some stain glass window panes date from around 1370. What struck me was the juxtaposition of this relatively simple and ancient church with the much more modern buildings around it and futuristic Vienna just across the Danube River.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An intriguing church to find in the city centre for those with an interest in his historical matters is Ruprechtskirche (St. Rupert's Church), which is presently considered the oldest church in Vienna.
St. Rupert's Church was built during the 9th century after the fall and destruction of the Roman settlement at Vindobona at this location upon the Danube River. The church was dedicated to Saint Rupert of Salzburg and it had religious administrative importance until the 12th century when St. Stephen's Cathedral became the new religious seat of power.
Interesting things to see at St. Rupert's Church include the statue of the patron saint as well as the 14th century stain-glass windows found within the church nave.
A further note of interest is the somewhat recent contestation of St. Rupert's claim of being the oldest church in Vienna. Discoveries at St. Peter's as well as St. Stephens seem to dispute historical records and suggest that these churches may have been built on religious/church sites that predate that of St. Rupert's. There remains no general consensus on this interesting dispute at this time.
Overall, St. Rupert's is a small church that offers less to see compared to the other magnificent and large scale churches around the city centre. However, it carries important and interesting historical attachment, making it potentially a nice place for visitors with a keen interesting in the history of Vienna to visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This church just absolutely amazed me with its simplicity, yet openness and use of the arts! The oldest standing church in Vienna, but is open-minded and creative. The freedom you feel when you are there is incomparable. At the same time they have preserved that dark-ages feeling that makes this church so attractive. I will definately go there again during the day when they are open!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The oldest church in Vienna. Catholic by origin and was built in IX century.
Worth of seeing obviously. Then you can grab a beer in Philosoph nearby.
Keep that rainbow flag away from here, it doesn’t belong here. Got nothing in common with catholic church and people who built it.
