Sport & Spa Hotel Strass

We travelled as 3 from Bristol UK for a weeks skiing in mid March. We had a private shuttle from the airport which did mean we didn't have the usual reception scrum for our room keys / check in. Check in was an efficient experience with pleasant interested staff. Our son was in a single room whilst we had a double. Both rooms had sunny south facing balconies with views of the Penkenbahn gondola and mountains. The rooms had recently been refurbished so were modern, spacious with a great bathrooms and showers. My only criticism were that the rooms always seemed hot despite the heating being turned off and there was no way of controlling this apart from the balcony doors being open (more of this later). Breakfast was a typical Austrian style Buffet with HUGE omelettes on request! The breakfast quality was excellent, cereal selection, hot buffet selection of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc plus cheese boards and a great selection of breads and rolls, preserves etc. After breakfast eacxh day we would return to our room to find it had been cleaned and tidied perfectly. Dinner was a slightly more formal affair with a 5 course table served affair, Our waiter was called Zivam, he had worked there for 40 years and was such a lovely hard working chap. Always helpful, patient and smiling and helpful if you needed some info on Mayrhofen. Thanks Zivam! Food quality at dinner was again, very high standard starting with a Salad / fresh buffet, then usually soup, an entre then main course followed by a desert. Wine / beer is not included but a good quality bottle of red or white will set you back around 25 - 30 euros each evening. The hotel is slap bang in the middle of Mayrhofen right opposite the Spar and main Apres bars so it can get noisy at night with drunken people rolling home in the early hours, so you close your balcony doors, then it gets too hot!! This was our first time at the Sporthotel Strass and Mayrhofen so we weren't sure what to expect but we really did have a fantastic holiday all round! Location and hotel by its self is good. Only the staff doesn’t seem to enjoy their job and aren’t really kind. It looks like the work pressure is very high and a lot of the staff doesn’t even know what they need to do. Also some of the facilities aren’t working like they should be and when you ask for someone to have a look at it they reply annoyed.

No kettles in the rooms in soch a cold time... The tee spot in the spa area was fool of rust. If you ordered only breakfast, please don't expect to sit in the nice area of the restorant. No personal food is aloud in the lobby, you can eat it only in your bedroom. No shampoo or conditioner are provided, only body soap. The spa is very slippery, be careful not to fall. The rooms are not the same, for the same price you can get much smaller or larger rooms without any explanation.

Loved the new rooms at the Strass! Perfect location, right next to the Penkenbahn - straight off the slopes into the sauna. Nice breakfast and very friendly & helpful staff, as always. See you soon guys!

Hotel's location is unbeatable, just near the Penken gondola. The hotel itself is OK, the room is pretty standart, the food is average, so if you're hesitating between half board and breakfast only- don't. The sauna is good, there's swimsuit and naked areas, so choose for yourself what suits you best.

Absolutely no words to describe how great my stay was at the Strass. Staff are incredible and super helpful - there’s nothing they couldn’t help or advise me on. The facilities are stunning and I’m very much looking forward to my next stay here!!

Great Spa Hotel right next to the Penkenbahn lift. The hotel has extensive facilities including two pools, saunas, a steam room, Thai Massage Room, 3 pool tables, table tennis and squash courts. The room we had was really spacious and the beds were pretty comfortable however the pillows were very thin. The restaurant has a nice layout and the food was good however the menu is a bit limited

We had a great stay at the Strass Sport Hotel during February this year. Every day of our stay we were served delicious food and the management was always willing to help if we had special requests. You can't get a better location in Mayrhofen as the hotel is located right beside the ski lift. In short: great food, great location, great rooms and great staff.
