The town hall on St. Pölten's main square is the landmark of the state capital of Lower Austria. The building combines several architectural styles: a Romanesque vault, Gothic niches, Renaissance inscriptions, a baroque facade and a Renaissance tower. The mayor's room has a baroque "Kaiserstuck ceiling".

Very nice, this year 2018 even with snow and Ö3 Christmas miracles. Good drinks, a good atmosphere and open longer than the Christmas markets in Vienna.

It was possible to visit some of the premises of the Town Hall, but we limited ourselves to a lounge. The City Senate and the Federal Council of the State of Lower Austria, the residence of the mayor and some services of the city magistrate are located in the Town Hall. The Town Hall building combines two buildings. The first mention of Rathaus is found in a document of 1503, which states that wealthy city dweller Thomas Pudmer is selling his house to the city council under the Town Hall. Today, his house occupies the eastern part of the town hall. The building of the western part was purchased in the XVI century. and connected both houses with a single facade. In 1591, an octagonal tower was added in the center, which was used to store weapons and grain. In 1727, the facade acquired a baroque look: flat pilasters of the Corinthian order and original pediments above the windows of the 2nd floor. The architect was Joseph Mungenast. At the same time, a large council hall was arranged, now it is the office of the burgomaster, with an "imperial ceiling." To the left of the Town Hall is a turofis with a cool picture on the window. (you can take a map of the city) and the Schubertagde house in 1821 hosted the first “schubertiad” (the so-called evenings at which F.
