S	Sergio Saved on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa, che si trova a circa 6 km dal centro di Klagenfurt, è circondata da un bel e rilassante giardino attraversato da un corso d’acqua e molti vengono a passeggiare ed a godere della pace del luogo. Si tratta di un ex monastero cistercense risalente al 1142 molto famoso e ricco durante il Medioevo e che nel corso della sua storia ha poi vissuto svariate vicissitudini. Il complesso religioso fu addirittura chiuso al culto nel XVIII secolo con la conseguente riconversione in una fabbrica tessile privata e solo nel 1970 lo stato austriaco ne è venuto in possesso. Oggi parte degli edifici dell’ex complesso religioso ospitano alcune scuole (famosa quella di musica), mentre la piccola chiesa custodisce pregevoli vetrate colorate del 1400, un grande altare barocco, un pregevole organo barocco e resti di affreschi…forse quattrocenteschi. Per l’intimità del luogo e la sua storia merita una deviazione! The church, which is located about 6 km from the center of Klagenfurt, is surrounded by a beautiful and relaxing garden crossed by a stream and many come to stroll and enjoy the peace of the place. It is a former Cistercian monastery dating back to 1142, very famous and rich during the Middle Ages and which over the course of its history has experienced various vicissitudes. The religious complex was even closed to worship in the eighteenth century with the consequent conversion into a private textile factory and only in 1970 the Austrian state came into possession. Today part of the buildings of the former religious complex house some schools (the music school is famous), while the small church houses valuable stained glass windows from the 1400s, a large Baroque altar, a valuable Baroque organ and the remains of frescoes ... perhaps from the 15th century. For the intimacy of the place and its history, it is worth a detour!
