Super smooth experience, i think most people confuse this with the private MA35..

Some are talking about waiting for 4 months etc. Cute. We have been waiting for almost 2 years now. lol. First I got insurance for my wife with the city, so that she could get her residence card. But after 6 months passed and they didnt give us the card (apparently because it was busy) the insurance ran out. And then you cant get the card without insurance, but you cant get insurance without the card haha. So it took a while to figure that out but now we are still waiting.. Just wow

I wouldn’t give a star if could, my visa was expired Feb 2021. And I renewed it last end of November 2020 and until now it’s almost 8 months I only received a letter that my visa still in process. I’ve tried thousand times to call to ask an update but unfortunately no one answering my calls. I’m hoping I will not loose my job because of this worse situation!

Minimum 1-2 hours of waiting even if you come with the appointment. People who work here are just chilling and chatting while people wait for them to do their job

These people don't answer the phone or emails. I needed to apply for residence before December 31st because of Brexit, and applied shortly after moving to Austria in October. I started the online procedure and waited for an appointmenr. I then waited months for news, with the deadline growing ever closer. I called many times but no one answered, emails were also unanswetred. It was only when my husband (a doctor with a fancy title) sent an angry email that we got an appointment. It was dangerously close to the cut off date. The information they send regarding documents needed has been incomplete on two occasions, causing me problems during appointments. I was also told I would receive my residence card in the post, but now I have been summoned to pick it up in person --- with less than 24 hours notice. This is due to COVID apparently. Funny that, considering that all other institutions actively discourage face to face contact, and have started offering services by post or online. I think they are just making it up as they go along...

To inform on how my case is moving forward. In June i received e-Mail from my clerk that my card is approved (November 2020 was my last card valid period, it leaves us with 7 months waiting) and they will send it by post as soon as it is issued. In September (!!) I received e-Mail that I need to pick it up in a week. I wasn’t in Vienna this day. I sent a message asking to shift the appointment. My clerk didn’t answer by now though I tried to reach her several times directly or through general e-Mail. It is student permit prolongation with a job search purpose. It means it is going to be valid till November 2021. That is MA35 dear ladies and gents! I am waiting for my student permit to be prolonged 6 months already. There is no possibility to reach my clerk Frau Katharina Nedbal neither per phone nor per e-Mail. I requested notfallvignette (how I was instructed by them before) to have an opportunity to travel to my home country. Nobody answered within 2 days just to let me know if somebody put any attention. I have a flight next week. I tried to reach my clerk but she doesn’t reply phone. Tried to reach general number they pushed me to my clerk again. These people don’t care about human beings‘ rights and feelings.

Worse than useless... They have one poor woman literally handling everything, queue must have been at least 50 people when I was there. Refuse to put anymore staff on. Kafka-esque

UPDATE : I am pleasantly surprised by the recent experience! The process was 10x better for my wife's visa application and they are giving the new card right on time! Hope they keep this up. Increasing the stars. The only thing I hate about Vienna is MA35. They took 7 months for a simple visa extension. My wife is still waiting for her card. It's been 7 months already. Nobody responds for email and call. Even if it's understaffed, taking 7 months for visa extension with proper documents is unacceptable. Zero stars.
