★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Es ist ein sehr schönes Denkmal in Salzburg. Es ist frei betrachtbar und von der Getreidegasse nur wenige Minuten zu Fuß entfernt. Außerdem ist es extrem faszinierend, wenn Busse millimetergenau durch das Klausentor fahren, um keinen Spiegel zu verlieren. Einen Besuch wert!
It is a very beautiful monument in Salzburg. It is freely viewable and only a few minutes walk away from Getreidegasse. In addition, it is extremely fascinating when buses drive through the Klausentor with millimeter precision so as not to lose any mirrors. Worth a visit!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Am linken Salzachufer verlief und verläuft noch heute eine stadtauswärts führende Straße zwischen Altstadt und Mülln. Möglicherweise schon nach 1280 wurde an dieser Straße eine erste Befestigung errichtet. Erstmals erwähnt wird die äußere Klause im Jahre 1367. In der Chronik von Salzburg des Judas Thaddäus Zauner wurde erwähnt, dass Erzbischof Pilgrim II. von Puchheim (1386–96) die "innere Klause" und "äußere Klause" mit einer Mauer verbunden hatte. Ob damit eine Ufermauer oder eine (dort weniger schlüssige) Wehrmauer zu verstehen ist, bleibt offen.
On the left bank of the Salzach, a road leading out of town ran and still runs between the old town and Mülln. The first fortification was possibly built on this road as early as 1280. The outer hermitage is mentioned for the first time in 1367. In the chronicle of Salzburg by Judas Thaddäus Zauner it was mentioned that Archbishop Pilgrim II of Puchheim (1386-96) had connected the "inner hermitage" and "outer hermitage" with a wall. It remains to be seen whether this is to be understood as a sea wall or a defensive wall (less conclusive there).
