★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Von der einst mächtigen Höhenburg Kienburg, welche auf steil abfallenden Felsen trohnt sind heute lediglich äußerst einsturzgefährdete Gebäudeteile und Mauerreste erhalten.
Die Burg wurde erstmals 1184 erwähnt. Im Jahre 1579 kam es zu einem verheerenden Brand, der praktisch alle Holzbauten vernichtete. Danach wurde nur mehr der steinerne Wohnturm notdürftig instand gesetzt. Um das Jahr 1660 waren die Schäden an den Gebäuden und Mauern bereits so groß, dass und man die Kienburg dem weiteren Verfall überlies. 1769 waren bereits Teile eingestürzt.
Die trotz ihres morbiden Bauzustandes dennoch beindruckende Ruine kann man bereits von der Straße aus sehen und eine Umrundung des Burgfelsens unternehmen um so einen besseren Eindruck von dieser ehemaligen Wehranlage zu erhalten. Von einer näheren Besichtigung der Anlage ist aufgrund der akuten Einsturzgefahr jedoch dringend abzuraten.
 From the once mighty mountain castle Kienburg, which drifts on steeply sloping rocks are today only extremely collapse-prone parts of the building and remains of the walls.
The castle was first mentioned in 1184. In 1579, a devastating fire broke out, destroying virtually all wooden buildings. Thereafter, only the stone tower was repaired makeshift. By the year 1660, the damage to the buildings and walls was already so great that it was left to the Kienburg further decay. In 1769 parts had already collapsed.
Despite its morbid state of construction, the impressive ruin can already be seen from the road and make a circumnavigation of the castle rock to get a better impression of this former fortification. From a closer inspection of the plant is urgently advised against due to the acute danger of collapse.
